...POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON SUNDAY...

A POWERFUL STORM SYSTEM OVER THE WESTERN U.S. WILL PUSH TOWARDS
OUR REGION ON SUNDAY...BRINGING WITH IT A CHANCE FOR STRONG TO
SEVERE STORMS...WITH DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES BEING
THE MAIN THREATS ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE SUNDAY AFTERNOON-EVENING.

A POTENT SURFACE LOW WILL MOVE QUICKLY TOWARD THE GREAT LAKES
DURING THE DAY ON SUNDAY...WITH ITS COLD FRONT EXTENDING DOWN
THROUGH EASTERN ARKANSAS. THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL TIGHTEN...AND
SOUTHERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WILL BE COMMON THROUGHOUT THE DAY
ON SUNDAY...WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS AS WELL...AS THE COLD FRONT
APPROACHES. THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ON-GOING ACROSS WESTERN AREAS
OF THE MID STATE DURING THE MORNING AND WILL PROGRESS EASTWARD
THROUGHOUT THE DAY. SHOULD MORNING PRECIPITATION WANE AND STORMS
HAVE A CHANCE TO REDEVELOP DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS...A FEW
STORMS COULD PRODUCE DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS AND ISOLATED
TORNADOES. FOR NOW...THE BEST CHANCE FOR SEVERE WEATHER WOULD BE
ROUGHLY BETWEEN THE 3-9PM TIME FRAME. THE COLD FRONT WILL MOVE
THROUGH THE CLARKSVILLE AREA AROUND 7 PM...NASHVILLE AROUND 9 PM
AND BE OFF THE PLATEAU BY MIDNIGHT. THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL
END WITH PASSAGE OF THE COLD FRONT.

THE GREATER THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE GREAT
LAKES REGION AND LOWER OHIO VALLEY. LOCALLY...THE SEVERE WEATHER
THREAT ACROSS MIDDLE TN WILL DEPEND ON HOW MUCH THE MORNING
PRECIPITATION WILL LOWER OUR INSTABILITY. HOWEVER AT THIS
TIME...MIDDLE TN RESIDENTS SHOULD STILL STAY ABREAST OF THE LATEST
FORECASTS AND HAVE A PREPAREDNESS PLAN IN PLACE SHOULD SEVERE
WEATHER DEVELOP.
