A HEAVY RAIN EVENT MAY DEVELOP ACROSS PARTS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE
THIS WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK...AS A COLD FRONT DROPS INTO OUR
AREA AND BECOMES STATIONARY. THE FRONT WILL BE PUSHING INTO A VERY
MOIST AIR MASS...AND WILL LIKELY PRODUCE PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE
NORTH...IN AREAS AROUND CLARKSVILLE...NASHVILLE...GALLATIN AND
DICKSON. SUCH PLACES COULD SEE RAIN TOTALS OF THREE INCHES OR MORE
BY SUNDAY EVENING.

THE STATIONARY FRONT IS FORECAST TO LIFT BACK TO THE NORTH...AS A
WARM FRONT...ON MONDAY. HOWEVER...ANOTHER COLD FRONT SWEEPS IN
MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY...BRINGING THE POTENTIAL FOR AT LEAST
ANOTHER INCH OR SO OF RAINFALL. THUS...BY THE END OF THE RAIN
EVENT NEXT TUESDAY...SOME PARTS OF NORTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE COULD
SEE RAINFALL TOTALS OF FOUR INCHES OR MORE.

TOPSOILS WILL LIKELY BECOME SATURATED OVER THE WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT
WEEK...INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY FOR LOCALIZED FLOODING.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS...STREAMS AND OTHER LOW
LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
