...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS ISSUED A RIVER FLOOD WARNING
FOR THE ELK RIVER...

AFFECTING THESE COUNTIES IN ALABAMA: LIMESTONE AND IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE: GILES.

ELK RIVER NEAR PROSPECT...
*   FLOOD STAGE:         26.0 FEET.
*   LATEST STAGE:        22.6 FEET AND RISING AT 8 AM TUESDAY.
*   RIVER FORECAST:      EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE OF 26.0 FT  TOMORROW
EVENING THEN FORECAST TO CREST NEAR 26.0 FT WEDNESDAY EVENING.
*   FLOOD CATEGORY:      THESE LEVELS WILL PRODUCE MINOR FLOODING.

AT THESE LEVELS...FLOOD WATERS REACH THE NEW BOAT DOCK AND RIVER BOTTOMLAND NEAR
PROSPECT.. THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 24.4 FEET WHICH OCCURRED
MAR 19 2002.

IF POSSIBLE...AVOID THE RIVER. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS AND
REMEMBER...NEVER DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH. TURN AROUND...DON'T
DROWN.
