...TROPICAL STORM MINDULLE MOVING RAPIDLY WEST-NORTHWEST...

.NEW INFORMATION...
Mindulle has been named by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions for
people in Guam and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical Storm Warning continues for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and
Saipan.

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern Marianas.
Please listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might be in effect
for your area.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 1 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Storm Mindulle (20W) was
located near LATITUDE 14.1N...LONGITUDE 142.3E. This was about
180 miles west-northwest of Guam. Storm Motion was west-northwest.
Storm Intensity was 45 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Damaging winds will be retreating toward the west along with Tropical
Storm Mindulle. However, occasional locally heavy showers will
continue today, so flooding is still a threat.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Tropical Storm Conditions continue, mainly in the form of occasional
locally heavy showers. These showers will continue today, creating an
ongoing threat of flooding. Stay inside until showers have
diminished. Also, brief periods of damaging winds could occur during
the heaviest showers, especially on the higher elevations.

The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 9 AM ChST...or sooner if conditions warrant.

As Tropical Storm Mindulle (20W) retreats, sustained tropical storm
force winds are expected to end around sunrise. Maximum winds are
forecast to be in the 30 to 40 mph range with gusts to 50 mph.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
The threat of storm surge has passed. Combined seas of 6 to 8 feet
will begin to diminish as Tropical Storm Mindulle moves off to the
west. Surf could reach 8 to 10 feet along south facing reefs today,
then gradually diminish.

...Inland flooding...
A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area. See latest forecast
for updates. Listen for possible flood warnings for your location...
and be ready to act if flooding rains occur. Additional rainfall
amounts of up to 2 inches are possible today as the last few
rainbands of Mindulle pass through the Marianas.
