...TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE MARIANAS...

.NEW INFORMATION...
None.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides important information and recommended
actions for people within the Mariana Islands.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical Storm Warning continues for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and
Saipan.

A Flood Watch is also in effect for all of the Marianas. Please
listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might be issued for your
area.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 1 PM ChST...the center of Tropical Depression 20W was located
near LATITUDE 12.6N...LONGITUDE 145.5E. This was about 75 miles
southeast of Guam. Storm Motion was west-northwest at 17 mph. Storm
Intensity was 35 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Winds will increase this afternoon as Tropical Depression 20W
strengthens and continues to approach the Marianas. Additional
rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches could lead to flooding in poor
drainage areas. Rip currents could be life threatening until Friday
afternoon.

East winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph will continue to
increase over the next several hours. Damaging winds of 35 to 45
mph, gusting to 55 mph, are expected later this afternoon. Winds
will gradually shift toward the south through the next 12 to 18
hours.

Storm surge of 6 to 8 feet along east to south facing reefs is
possible with this storm. This would result in minor inundation of 1
to 2 feet.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For those under a warning...now is the time to rush to completion
preparations for the protection of life and property. Evacuate if
directed to do so by local officials...or if your home is vulnerable
to high winds or flooding.

For interests at ports...docks...and marinas...urgently complete
prescribed preparations according to your emergency operations
plan for tropical cyclones. If you live on a boat...make final
preparations for securing your craft before leaving it. Be sure
to account for the possible closure of bridges and causeways.

Regarding any coastal waters under a warning...small craft should
remain in port and well secured.

location as further described by your local emergency management.

Final preparations to protect life and property should be completed
before conditions deteriorate. The onset of gusty winds and heavy
rains can cause outside activities to become dangerous. Secure loose
outdoor objects which can be blown around. Canopies should be
removed and/or well secured.

...Probability of tropical storm/hurricane conditions...
Although 20W remains a Tropical Depression at this time,
strengthening is expected over the next few days. Confidence
continues to increase in the probability of 20W becoming a Tropical
Storm within the next 6 to 12 hours.

...Winds...
As Tropical Depression 20W approaches, sustained tropical storm
force winds are expected to begin early This evening. Maximum
winds are forecast to be in the 40 to 50 mph range with gusts to 60
mph. Minor to moderate damage is likely to canopies, awnings, or
carports. Poorly constructed homes may sustain minor wall damage and
partial roof damage. Some loose outdoor items will be tossed around
and may cause additional damage. A few power lines may be knocked
down resulting in isolated power outages. Some large branches of
healthy trees may be snapped.

...Storm surge and storm tide...

A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area. See current forecast
for latest information. Listen for possible flash flood warnings and
