...TROPICAL DEPRESSION TWENTY MOVING TOWARD THE MARIANAS...
.NEW INFORMATION...
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and
Saipan.
.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions for
people in Guam and the Northern Marianas.
.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical storm watch continues for the following locations, Guam,
Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern Marianas.
Please listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might be in effect
for your area.
Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.
.STORM INFORMATION...
At 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Depression 20W was located near
LATITUDE 12.1N...LONGITUDE 147.0E. This was about 170 miles
east-southeast of Guam. Storm Motion was west-northwest. Storm
intensity was 35 mph.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Winds will increase this afternoon as Tropical Depression 20W
continues to approach the Marianas. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches
additional could lead to flooding in poor drainage areas. Rip
currents could be life threatening until Friday afternoon.
It is too early to provide exact wind and surge forecast values for
specific locations. A general concern should be for the possibility
of at least minor to locally moderate damage somewhere within Guam
and the Northern Marianas.
.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For those under a watch...now is the time to begin preparing your
home or business according to your tropical cyclone disaster plan.
Listen for possible warnings and be ready to evacuate if
necessary. Heed the advice of local officials and comply with any
orders that are issued.
For mariners at ports...docks...and marinas...it is recommended that
you perform the prescribed preparations according to your emergency
operations plan for tropical cyclones. If you live on a boat...begin
to safely secure your craft and make plans to leave it for adequate
land based shelter. Listen for possible warnings.
Regarding the coastal waters under a watch...small craft should
return to port or seek safe harbor.
Closely monitor NOAA weather radio or other local news outlets
for official storm information. Listen for possible changes to
the forecast.

Service office and your local emergency management.

As Tropical Depression 20W develops, the threat for sustained high
winds may increase. Since there is still uncertainty, closely monitor
the forecast for any significant changes.
...Inland flooding...
a Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area. See latest forecast
for latest information. Listen for possible flood warnings for your
location...and be ready to act if flooding rains occur.
There will be an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain through Friday.
...Storm surge and storm tide...
Storm surge of up to 1 foot is possible along east facing reefs. Surf
will be 8 to 10 feet along east facing reefs through tonight.
