**IMPROVING CONDITIONS ACROSS EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA**

* STORM INFORMATION:
- About 270 miles north of Buxton NC or about 300 miles north of
Morehead City NC
- 39.1N 76.1W
- Storm Intensity 70 mph
- Movement North-northeast or 20 degrees at 35 mph
SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------
Tropical Storm Isaias is racing northeastward through the Mid Atlantic
region this morning, with winds rapidly diminishing across Eastern
North Carolina. However, some minor coastal flooding is still possible
across mainly the soundside Outer Banks, north of Avon.
Conditions should be improving this afternoon with water levels
continuing to drop across the region.
An elevated rip current threat will persist over the next couple days,
leading to dangerous conditions for swimming.
Dangerous marine conditions will persist through today, with 6 to
10 foot seas expected. The high seas will slowly subside to less than
6 feet by this evening.

Little to no additional impacts are anticipated at this time
across Eastern North Carolina.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have given the all clear to
return.
* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Do not attempt to return to evacuated areas until local authorities
give the all clear. Allow time for officials to inspect bridges and
overpasses and to mark washed-out roads.
