**DORIAN MOVING AWAY FROM SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND**

NEW INFORMATION
---------------

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - All watches and warnings have been canceled

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - None

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 210 miles east-northeast of Nantucket MA or about 260
      miles east of Boston MA
    - 42.0N 66.0W
    - Storm Intensity 85 mph
    - Movement Northeast or 40 degrees at 29 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Hurricane Dorian has already made its closest approach to southeastern
New England and is now speeding northeast toward Nova Scotia. Strong
wind gusts up to 40 mph along the coast late this morning will
continue to diminish early this afternoon. As of 11 AM, a general 1 to
2.5 inches of rain had fallen on Cape Cod and the Islands. Little
additional rainfall is expected.

As Dorian pulls farther away, winds will diminish and skies will begin
to clear from west to east this afternoon, although sunshine could
help mix down some briefly gusty winds late this afternoon.

Dangerously high seas and breaking waves will make it rough for
mariners and anyone near the beach. A High Surf Advisory remains in
effect for the south coast through this afternoon and for the east
coast into Sunday morning.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS

* WIND:
Little to no additional wind impacts expected.
    - Community officials are now assessing the extent of actual wind
      impacts accordingly.
    - Emergency work crews are restoring essential community
      infrastructure as necessary.
    - If you have an emergency dial 9 1 1.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have given the all clear
to return.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:

When clearing out fallen trees, be careful with chainsaws and axes.
Always wear protective gear and keep others at a safe distance.
Leaning trees and those which have fallen on roofs or power lines can
be especially dangerous. If you are not in good health or unsure
about what you are doing, have someone with tree cutting experience

Be alert for any lingering wind gusts which could take down weakened
trees and/or power lines, collapse damaged structures, or cause
flying debris.

Be alert for flooded roads which could be compromised or littered
with debris. Avoid travel until water levels subside and roads have
been cleared. Do not drive through places where flood waters cover
the road. Turn around, don't drown!
