...TYPHOON BUALOI INTENSIFYING AS IT APPROACHES THE MARIANAS...

.NEW INFORMATION...
A tropical storm warning is in effect for Alamagan, Pagan, and
Agrihan in the Northern Mariana Islands.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people on Tinian, Saipan, Alamagan, Pagan and Agrihan in the
Northern Mariana Islands.

.WATCHES AND WARNINGS...
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for the islands of Agrihan,
Pagan and Alamagan in the Northern Mariana Islands. Damaging winds of
39 mph or higher are expected by early Tuesday morning.

A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Tinian and Saipan. Damaging
winds of 39 mph or more are expected overnight. If Bualoi deviates
from the current forecast track, typhoon force winds of 74 mph or
more are possible tonight.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 800 PM CHST...1000 UTC...the eye of Typhoon Bualoi was located by
radar near Latitude 15.3 degrees North and Longitude 147.0 degrees
East...moving northwest at 13 mph. This is 85 miles east of Saipan.
Maximum sustained winds were 110 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Typhoon Bualoi continues to track steadily northwestward, and this
motion is expected to continue through Tuesday. This will bring
damaging winds to Tinian and Saipan tonight, and to Alamagan, Pagan
and Agrihan from early Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon.

For Tinian and Saipan, preparations for tropical storm conditions
should be complete. For Agrihan, Alamagan and Pagan, preparations
for damaging winds should be completed as soon as possible.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For those under a warning...preparations for the protection of life
and property should be rushed to completion. Evacuate if directed
to do so by local officials...or if your home is vulnerable to high
winds or flooding.

For people at ports, docks, and marinas, complete your preparations
as soon as possible. If you live on a boat...make sure you secure
your craft before leaving it. Small craft should remain in port and
well secured.

Closely monitor local news outlets for official storm information.
Listen for possible changes to the forecast.

The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 300 AM Tuesday...or sooner if conditions
warrant.

Preparations for the onset of damaging winds should be complete.
For your home or business, cover all windows and doors with shutters
or plywood. Move patio furniture and other loose objects indoors.
Brace exterior doors.

Items to bring to a shelter include a first aid kit, medicines and
prescriptions, baby food and diapers, games and books, toiletries,
a battery powered radio, a cell phone, flashlights with extra
batteries, a blanket or sleeping bag for each person, personal
identification, copies of key papers such as insurance policies,
available cash and credit cards.

...Winds...
As Typhoon Bualoi approaches, north winds will increase and become
damaging at 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 55 mph toward midnight, then
shift to west toward morning. Winds will become southwest and
diminish to 20 to 25 mph Tuesday morning, and around 15 mph Tuesday
afternoon.

...Storm Surge and Surf...
Coastal inundation of 2 to 4 feet is possible as Bualoi passes
tonight and Tuesday. Surf will likely become dangerous at 15 feet
or more along windward exposures.

...Other storm effects...
3 to 5 inches of rain is possible through Tuesday. Flash flooding
or mudslides are possible in flood-prone areas and steep valleys.

reefs by this evening.

Less than an inch or rain is expected from the passage of Typhoon
Bualoi. No flooding is expected.

Continue preparations for the threat of damaging winds, which are
expected late tonight or Tuesday. Make sure you have enough food,
water, and medical supplies. Have your HF radio ready for receiving
storm information.

...WINDS...
For Alamagan, damaging east winds at 35 to 45 mph are expected
before sunrise, increasing to 45 to 55 mph around 10 AM Tuesday,
then shifting to southeast and diminishing in the afternoon.

For Pagan, damaging east winds at 35 to 45 mph should start around
sunrise and persist through the day Tuesday before shifting to
southeast and diminishing by evening.

For Agrihan, damaging east to southeast winds at 35 to 45 mph are
expected between about noon and 7 PM Tuesday.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF...
Coastal inundation of 2 to 3 feet is possible Tuesday and Tuesday
night, mainly along east, south and west facing reefs. Hazardous
surf exceeding 9 feet is likely along south and west facing beaches
Tuesday and Tuesday night.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
3 to 5 inches of rainfall is possible as Bualoi passes tonight
through Tuesday night. Minor flooding may occur.
