...SUPER TYPHOON HAGIBIS JUST WEST OF ANATAHAN ISLAND...

.NEW INFORMATION...
The eye of Hagibis has passed over Anatahan Island around 1 AM
this morning.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides important information and recommended
actions for people on the Marianas Islands.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Tinian, Saipan, Alamagan and
Pagan Islands. Typhoon conditions will continue on Tinian and Saipan
until daybreak, and Alamagan and Pagan until noon. Afterward,
damaging winds are expected for Tinian and Saipan through early this
afternoon, and Alamagan and Pagan through early this evening.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Guam, Rota and
Agrihan. Tropical storm conditions will continue on Guam until
daybreak, Rota until mid morning and Agrihan until this evening.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and
Saipan.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 1 AM...the center of Super Typhoon Hagibis (20W) was located near
Latitude 16.3N...Longitude 145.6E. This was about 80 miles north of
Saipan. Hagibis was moving west-northwest at 18 mph with maximum
sustained winds of 160 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Super Typhoon Hagibis will strengthen a bit more while gradually
moving away from the southern CNMI today. The northern CNMI will
remain under its influence until later this evening.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 9 AM...or sooner if conditions warrant.

Destructive west winds of 50 to 60 mph with gusts to 75 mph will
shift to the southwest and subside to damaging at 35 to 45 mph with
gusts to 55 mph near daybreak. Winds will gradually subside through
this morning.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Combined seas of 15 to 22 feet will continue through this morning,
then slowly subside this afternoon. Dangerous surf of 15 to 18 feet
will continue through this morning, then subside to hazardous
levels of 12 to 14 feet this afternoon. Inundation of 2 to 4 feet
remains probable until early afternoon along windward coasts.

Additional rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is possible by this evening.
