**Tropical Storm Micheal moving away from the area**

NEW INFORMATION
---------------

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - The Tropical Storm Warning has been cancelled for Coastal
      Georgetown, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Inland Georgetown,
      Marion, Marlboro, and Williamsburg

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Bladen, Central
      Horry, Coastal Brunswick, Coastal Horry, Coastal New Hanover,
      Coastal Pender, Columbus, Inland Brunswick, Inland New Hanover,
      Inland Pender, Northern Horry, and Robeson

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 140 miles north-northwest of Wilmington NC or about 170
      miles north of Myrtle Beach SC
    - 36.1N 78.8W
    - Storm Intensity 50 mph
    - Movement Northeast or 50 degrees at 24 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Tropical Storm Michael continues to move away from the area. Gusty
winds and showers will continue this evening, but rapidly improving
weather conditions will develop overnight.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. Remain well
sheltered from hazardous wind having possible limited impacts. If
realized, these impacts include:
    - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
      mobile homes is possible. Unsecured lightweight objects may be
      blown about.
    - Some large limbs may break from trees. A few shallow rooted or
      weak trees may snap or be knocked down. Some fences and roadway
      signs damaged.
    - A few roads may become impassable due to debris, particularly
      within urban or heavily wooded locations. Hazardous driving
      conditions are possible, especially for high profile vehicles
      on bridges and other elevated roadways.
    - Scattered power and communications outages are possible.

* OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS:
Strong rip currents, large breaking waves, and a strong longshore
current are all making for very hazardous beach conditions. Residents
are urged to stay out of the ocean.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS:
None expected.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Continue to keep your cell phone well charged for as long as possible.
If you lose power, use it more sparingly and mainly for personal
emergencies and check-ins. Do not overload communications systems with
idle chatter.
