SITUATION OVERVIEW

AS OF 10 AM CDT, TROPICAL DEPRESSION CINDY WAS LOCATED 60 MILES
NORTH-NORTHWEST OF LAKE CHARLES LA. THE TRACK CONTINUES TOWARDS THE
NORTH AT 13 MPH. CINDY HAS CONTINUED TO WEAKEN THIS MORNING AFTER
MAKING LANDFALL WITH THIS OVERALL PATTERN EXPECTED TO CONTINUE.
AREAS OF RAIN AND HEAVIER RAINBANDS CONTINUE TO SWIRL AROUND THE REMAINS
OF CINDY AS THE DEPRESSION TRACKS NORTHWARD. THE THREAT FOR LOCALIZED FLASH
FLOODING AND ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL CONTINUE.
STORM SURGE FLOODING WILL RESULT IN COASTAL INUNDATION OF 1 TO 3 FEET
ABOVE GROUND LEVEL THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. THEREAFTER A SLOW
FALL IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE EVENING.
STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO TAPER OFF THROUGH THE AFTERNOON
HOURS AS CINDY LIFTS NORTHWARD AND AWAY FROM THE REGION.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS

* FLOODING RAIN:
ADDITIONAL IMPACTS FROM FLOODING RAIN ARE STILL A CONCERN ACROSS THE
ENTIRE AREA. REMAIN WELL GUARDED AGAINST LIFE-THREATENING FLOOD WATERS
HAVING FURTHER IMPACTS OF EXTENSIVE POTENTIAL.
ADDITIONAL IMPACTS FROM FLOODING RAIN ARE STILL A CONCERN ACROSS THE ENTIRE
AREA. REMAIN WELL GUARDED AGAINST DANGEROUS FLOOD WATERS HAVING FURTHER
IMPACTS OF LIMITED TO SIGNIFICANT POTENTIAL.
* WIND:
LITTLE TO NO ADDITIONAL WIND IMPACTS EXPECTED.
- COMMUNITY OFFICIALS ARE NOW ASSESSING THE EXTENT OF ACTUAL WIND
IMPACTS ACCORDINGLY.
- EMERGENCY WORK CREWS ARE RESTORING ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY
INFRASTRUCTURE AS NECESSARY.

* TORNADOES:
ADDITIONAL IMPACTS FROM TORNADOES ARE STILL A CONCERN ACROSS

TORNADO EVENT HAVING FURTHER LIMITED IMPACT POTENTIAL.
* SURGE:
MINOR SURGE IMPACTS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST.
- COMMUNITY OFFICIALS ARE NOW ASSESSING THE EXTENT OF ACTUAL
SURGE IMPACTS ACCORDINGLY.
- EMERGENCY WORK CREWS ARE RESTORING ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY
INFRASTRUCTURE AS NECESSARY.
- IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY DIAL 9 1 1.
ELSEWHERE ACROSS SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS, LITTLE TO
NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

IF YOUR HOME OR SHELTER WAS DAMAGED, BE ALERT TO THE SMELL OF NATURAL
GAS LEAKS AND CAUTIOUS AROUND EXPOSED ELECTRICAL WIRING, BROKEN
GLASS, JAGGED METAL AND WOOD, AND PROTRUDING NAILS AND SCREWS.
CHECK TO SEE IF EVERYONE IN YOUR GROUP IS OK. ADMINISTER FIRST AID TO
THOSE WHO ARE INJURED. CALL 9 1 1 FOR ANY SERIOUS INJURIES. REMEMBER,
IT MAY BE MORE DIFFICULT FOR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS TO ARRIVE QUICKLY
IN THE TIME PERIOD IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE STORM.

NEIGHBORLY AND LEND A HELPING HAND.
WHEN CLEARING OUT FALLEN TREES, BE CAREFUL WITH CHAIN SAWS AND AXES.
ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR AND KEEP OTHERS AT A SAFE DISTANCE. USE
THESE TOOLS ACCORDING TO OPERATING MANUALS AND SAFETY INSTRUCTION.
LEANING TREES AND THOSE WHICH HAVE FALLEN ON ROOF TOPS CAN BE
ESPECIALLY CHALLENGING. IF YOU ARE NOT IN GOOD HEALTH OR UNSURE ABOUT
WHAT YOU ARE DOING, HAVE SOMEONE ELSE WITH TREE CUTTING EXPERIENCE DO
THE JOB. NEVER CUT TREES WITHOUT A PARTNER.
IF USING A GENERATOR, AVOID CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING BY FOLLOWING
INSTRUCTIONS BY THE MANUFACTURER. MAKE SURE THAT THE GENERATOR IS RUN
IN A WELL VENTILATED SPACE.
PROBLEMS WITH SEWER BACKUPS CAN FURTHER CONTAMINATE STANDING FLOOD
WATERS. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY. ALSO, LISTEN FOR BOIL WATER ALERTS
RELATIVE TO COMMUNITIES WHOSE TAP WATER MAY HAVE BECOME NON-POTABLE.
