DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karl was
located near latitude 20.1 North, longitude 55.2 West. Karl is
moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A west-northwest
to northwest motion at a slightly increased forward speed is
expected through Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (220 km)
to the north of the center.
Dropsonde data from the NOAA G-IV aircraft indicate that the minimum
central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
