SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

ALTHOUGH HERMINE HAS TRANSITIONED INTO A POST TROPICAL STORM,
THIS DOES NOT LESSEN THE IMPACTS, AND THEY SHOULD BE TAKEN JUST AS
SERIOUSLY. HERMINE IS A LARGE STORM SYSTEM AND IS EXPECTED TO
REMAIN IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO OUR REGION AS IT MEANDERS OFFSHORE
THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR SOME
STRENGTHENING TO HURRICANE FORCE OVER THE WARM ATLANTIC WATERS.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR LOCATIONS IN DELAWARE
AND NEW JERSEY THAT ARE NEAR THE COAST AS WELL AS ALONG THE DELAWARE
BAY AND RARITAN BAY. THIS WARNING ALSO INCLUDES THE COASTAL
WATERS AND THE DELAWARE BAY. SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS
IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE NEAR THE COAST AS EARLY AS THIS AFTERNOON
AT THE DELAWARE BEACHES AND TONIGHT FARTHER UP THE COAST. TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE INTO MONDAY AFTERNOON
BUT IT COULD LINGER INTO TUESDAY MORNING IF THE STORM IS SLOWER TO
MAKE ITS TURN NORTHEASTWARD AND AWAY FROM THE AREA. THERE IS STILL
REASONABLE POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS SUNDAY
NIGHT AND MONDAY FARTHER INLAND ACROSS SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL NEW
JERSEY AND POSSIBLY AS FAR WEST AS THE I-95 CORRIDOR.

MINOR TO POCKETS OF MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING IS LIKELY AROUND
THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE TODAY. DANGEROUS STORM SURGE WILL REACH
THE COAST TONIGHT WHEN MODERATE TO MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING IS
FORECAST TO OCCUR WITH THE HIGH TIDE TONIGHT AND AGAIN ON MONDAY
LATE MORNING/EARLY AFTERNOON. A REASONABLE WORST-CASE SCENARIO IS
FOR NEAR RECORD COASTAL FLOODING TO OCCUR WITH THESE HIGH TIDE
CYCLES. THE GREATEST THREAT IS ALONG THE DELAWARE AND SOUTHERN NEW
JERSEY COAST INCLUDING BACK BAYS, AS WELL AS ON THE SOUTHERN SHORE
OF THE DELAWARE BAY.

THERE IS A LIKELIHOOD FOR 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAINFALL, MAINLY EAST OF
THE I-95 CORRIDOR. SOME AREAS NEAR THE COAST IN DELAWARE AND NEW
JERSEY COULD RECEIVE 2 TO 3 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS WHICH
MAY LEAD TO INLAND FLOODING OR CONTRIBUTE TO THE SEVERITY OF
COASTAL FLOODING. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS EXPECTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH EARLY MONDAY MORNING.

HAZARDOUS SEAS AND DANGEROUSLY ROUGH SURF CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH
THE REMAINDER OF THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND INTO MIDWEEK. SIGNIFICANT
BEACH EROSION IS EXPECTED WITH HEAVY SURF BREACHING DUNES. A HIGH
RIP CURRENT RISK AT THE BEACHES WILL POSE A SERIOUS THREAT TO LIFE
FOR ANY SWIMMERS THAT DECIDE TO VENTURE OUT INTO THE OCEAN.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* SURGE:
PROTECT AGAINST LIFE-THREATENING SURGE HAVING POSSIBLE SIGNIFICANT
IMPACTS ACROSS COASTAL AREAS OF NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE AND ALONG
THE SHORE OF DELAWARE BAY. POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE:
    - AREAS OF INUNDATION ARE POSSIBLE WITH STORM SURGE FLOODING
ENHANCED BY WAVES. IN PARTICULAR, RECORD FLOODING IS POSSIBLE
SOUTH OF THE ATLANTIC CITY AREA. DAMAGE IS LIKELY TO SEVERAL
      BUILDINGS, MAINLY NEAR THE COAST.
    - SECTIONS OF NEAR-SHORE ESCAPE ROUTES AND SECONDARY ROADS COULD
BECOME WEAKENED OR WASHED OUT, ESPECIALLY IN USUALLY VULNERABLE
      LOW SPOTS.
    - MAJOR BEACH EROSION IS EXPECTED WITH HEAVY SURF BREACHING
DUNES. STRONG AND NUMEROUS RIP CURRENTS ARE EXPECTED.
    - MODERATE DAMAGE TO MARINAS, DOCKS, BOARDWALKS, AND PIERS IS
ANTICIPATED. SEVERAL SMALL CRAFT MAY BE BROKEN AWAY FROM
      MOORINGS, ESPECIALLY IN UNPROTECTED AREAS.

ALSO, PROTECT AGAINST LOCALLY HAZARDOUS SURGE HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED
IMPACTS ALONG THE DELAWARE RIVER.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS NEW JERSEY, EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND EASTERN MARYLAND,
LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

* WIND:
PROTECT AGAINST DANGEROUS WIND HAVING POSSIBLE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS
ALONG THE NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE COAST. POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN
THIS AREA INCLUDE:
    - SOME DAMAGE TO ROOFING AND SIDING IS LIKELY, ALONG WITH DAMAGE
TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, AND SHEDS. A FEW BUILDINGS WILL
EXPERIENCE WINDOW, DOOR, AND GARAGE DOOR FAILURES. MOBILE HOMES
MAY BE DAMAGED, ESPECIALLY IF UNANCHORED. UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT
      OBJECTS COULD BECOME AIRBORNE.
    - SEVERAL TREES MAY BE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. SEVERAL FENCES
AND ROADWAY SIGNS COULD BE BLOWN OVER.
    - SOME ROADS MAY BE IMPASSABLE FROM LARGE DEBRIS. A FEW BRIDGES,
CAUSEWAYS, AND ACCESS ROUTES MAY BE IMPASSABLE.
    - THERE COULD BE SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES, BUT
MORE PREVALENT IN AREAS WITH ABOVE GROUND LINES.

ALSO, PROTECT AGAINST HAZARDOUS WIND HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS
ACROSS INLAND PARTS OF NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE AND POSSIBLY AS FAR WEST AS
EASTERN MARYLAND AND SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA.

* FLOODING RAIN:
PROTECT AGAINST LOCALLY HAZARDOUS RAINFALL FLOODING HAVING POSSIBLE
LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS ACROSS SOUTHERN DELAWARE AND ALONG THE SOUTHERN
NEW JERSEY COAST. POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - LOCALIZED RAINFALL FLOODING MAY PROMPT A FEW EVACUATIONS IN THE
      TIDAL ZONE.
    - RIVERS AND TRIBUTARIES MAY QUICKLY RISE WITH SWIFTER CURRENTS.
SMALL STREAMS, CREEKS, CANALS, AND DITCHES MAY BECOME SWOLLEN
      AND OVERFLOW IN SPOTS.
    - FLOOD WATERS CAN ENTER A FEW STRUCTURES, ESPECIALLY IN
VULNERABLE SPOTS. RAPID PONDING OF WATER MAY OCCUR AT
UNDERPASSES, LOW-LYING SPOTS, AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. SEVERAL
STORM DRAINS AND RETENTION PONDS BECOME NEAR-FULL AND BEGIN TO
OVERFLOW. SOME BRIEF ROAD AND BRIDGE CLOSURES ARE POSSIBLE.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS NEW JERSEY...DELAWARE...EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA
AND EASTERN MARYLAND., LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.
