EROSION. A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH COASTS
OF RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS INCLUDING BLOCK ISLAND...MARTHA/S
VINEYARD...NANTUCKET AND CAPE COD. TROPICAL STORM FORCE CONDITIONS ARE
MOST LIKELY FROM LATE SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...MAINLY OVER THE

GUSTS MAY AFFECT THE RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS SOUTH COAST
THROUGH MID WEEK.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS MAY ARRIVE ACROSS BLOCK ISLAND...MARTHA/S
VINEYARD AND NANTUCKET BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND SPREAD NORTH ALONG THE
SOUTH COAST SOMETIME SUNDAY EVENING. WIND GUSTS BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH
ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST AND ISLANDS MAY DOWN SOME TREES AND
LARGE BRANCHES WITH SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. SOME TREES MAY BE MORE
SUSCEPTIBLE TO WIND DAMAGE DUE TO STRESS FROM DROUGHT CONDITIONS.

ALONG THE COAST...DANGEROUSLY ROUGH SURF AND LIFE THREATENING RIP
CURRENTS ARE LIKELY SUNDAY INTO THE MIDDLE PART OF NEXT WEEK...
ESPECIALLY ALONG RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS SOUTH COAST BEACHES. A
STORM SURGE OF 2 TO 3 FEET IS EXPECTED DURING THE SUNDAY NIGHT HIGH
TIDE ALONG THE RHODE ISLAND COAST WHICH MAY PRODUCE AREAS OF MINOR
SPLASHOVER ALONG WITH MINOR TO MODERATE BEACH EROSION...ESPECIALLY
FROM WESTERLY TO POINT JUDITH. A 1 TO 2 FOOT STORM SURGE IS LIKELY
ALONG MASSACHUSETTS SHORELINE WITH AREAS OF MINOR BEACH EROSION
POSSIBLE. STORM SURGE SHOULD DIMINISH A BIT DURING THE MONDAY HIGH
TIDE.

A FEW HEAVY DOWNPOURS ARE POSSIBLE LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY NEXT
WEEK ACROSS RHODE ISLAND AND SOUTHEAST MASSACHUSETTS...BUT FLOODING OF
STREAMS AND RIVERS APPEARS UNLIKELY AT THIS TIME.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
PREPARE FOR WIND HAVING POSSIBLE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS ALONG THE
SOUTH COAST. POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE:
 - TREES...LARGE BRANCHES AND POWER LINES DOWNED CAUSING SCATTERED
   POWER OUTAGES.

* SURGE:
A 1 TO 2 FOOT SURGE ALONG THE SOUTH COAST OF MASSACHUSETTS AND A
2 TO 3 FOOT ALONG THE RHODE ISLAND SOUTH COAST IS EXPECTED DURING
THE SUNDAY NIGHT HIGH TIDE. THIS WILL RESULT IN MINOR BEACH
EROSION ALONG EXPOSED BEACHES...WITH POCKETS OF MODERATE EROSION
AND MINOR SPLASHOVER ALONG THE RHODE ISLAND COAST...ESPECIALLY
FROM WESTERLY TO POINT JUDITH.

* FLOODING RAIN:
LITTLE TO NO IMPACTS ARE ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME ACROSS SOUTHERN
