SITUATION OVERVIEW

TROPICAL STORM HERMINE LOCATED NEAR NAGS HEAD NORTH CAROLINA WILL
MOVE NORTHEAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS...MAKING ITS CLOSEST APPROACH
TO ST. MARYS COUNTY AROUND 11 AM TODAY. RAIN WILL BE ENDING
SHORTLY OVER ST. MARYS COUNTY BUT WIND GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM
FORCE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON ESPECIALLY AT POINT
LOOKOUT BEFORE THEY START DIMINISHING EARLY THIS EVENING.
THE STORM MAY MOVE BACK TOWARD THE COAST SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY...
POSSIBLY BRINGING MORE RAIN AND A SECOND PERIOD OF INCREASED WINDS FOR
LOCATIONS NEAR AND EAST OF INTERSTATE 95. INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECAST.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS

POTENTIAL IMPACTS FROM THE MAIN WIND EVENT ARE NOW UNFOLDING ACROSS
ST MARYS COUNTY. REMAIN WELL SHELTERED FROM HAZARDOUS
WIND HAVING LIMITED IMPACTS. IF REALIZED,
THESE IMPACTS INCLUDE:
- DAMAGE TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, SHEDS, AND UNANCHORED
MOBILE HOMES. UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECTS BLOWN ABOUT.
- MANY LARGE TREE LIMBS BROKEN OFF. A FEW TREES SNAPPED OR
UPROOTED, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE GROUND IS SATURATED. SOME FENCES
AND ROADWAY SIGNS DAMAGED.
- A FEW ROADS IMPASSABLE FROM DEBRIS, ESPECIALLY IN HEAVILY
WOODED AREAS. HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON BRIDGES AND OTHER
ELEVATED ROADWAYS.
- SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES.
ELSEWHERE ACROSS EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA, CENTRAL AND WESTERN MARYLAND,
