SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

DANGEROUS MAJOR HURRICANE MATTHEW IS EXPECTED TO TRACK ALONG THE
EASTERN FLORIDA COAST TONIGHT AND FRIDAY... THEN MOVE ALONG THE
GEORGIA COAST FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY. AS THE STRONG
HURRICANE APPROACHES THE GEORGIA COAST EARLY ON FRIDAY... TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO SPREAD INLAND AND COULD BRING
WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 55 MPH IN AND AROUND THE TROPICAL STORM
WARNING AREA FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY. ALL INTERESTS
ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHEAST GEORGIA... ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST OF
A JORDAN TO SWAINSBORO LINE SHOULD PREPARE FOR HAZARDOUS WINDS
FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THERE IS ALSO A HEAVY RAIN THREAT OVER
THIS SAME AREA... WITH 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL EXPECTED AND
ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE THROUGH SATURDAY. THESE RAINFALL
AMOUNTS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LIFE THREATENING FLASH
FLOODING... ESPECIALLY ALONG FLOOD PRONE CREEKS AND RIVERS.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
PREPARE FOR HAZARDOUS WIND HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS
NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA. POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - DAMAGE TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, SHEDS, AND UNANCHORED
      MOBILE HOMES. UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECTS BLOWN ABOUT.
    - MANY LARGE TREE LIMBS BROKEN OFF. A FEW TREES SNAPPED OR
      UPROOTED, BUT WITH GREATER NUMBERS IN PLACES WHERE TREES ARE
      SHALLOW ROOTED. SOME FENCES AND ROADWAY SIGNS BLOWN OVER.
    - A FEW ROADS IMPASSABLE FROM DEBRIS, PARTICULARLY WITHIN URBAN
      OR HEAVILY WOODED PLACES. HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON
      BRIDGES AND OTHER ELEVATED ROADWAYS.
    - SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES.

* FLOODING RAIN:
LITTLE TO NO IMPACTS ARE ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME
ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

* TORNADOES:
LITTLE TO NO IMPACTS ARE ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME
ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS: NONE.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:

NOW IS THE TIME TO BRING TO COMPLETION ALL PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT
LIFE AND PROPERTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH YOUR EMERGENCY PLAN.

OUTSIDE PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE WRAPPED UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE
WEATHER CONDITIONS COMPLETELY DETERIORATE. ANY REMAINING EVACUATIONS
AND RELOCATIONS SHOULD BE EXPEDITED BEFORE THE ONSET OF TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WIND.

IF YOU ARE RELOCATING TO SAFE SHELTER, LEAVE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. IF
HEADING TO A COMMUNITY SHELTER, BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE SHELTER
RULES BEFORE ARRIVAL, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS OR OWN A
PET. TAKE ESSENTIAL ITEMS WITH YOU FROM YOUR EMERGENCY SUPPLIES KIT.
CHECK THE LATEST WEATHER FORECAST BEFORE DEPARTING.

FAILURE TO ADEQUATELY SHELTER MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR LOSS OF
LIFE. ALWAYS HEED THE ADVICE OF LOCAL OFFICIALS AND COMPLY WITH ANY

ARRIVE. ALSO, IF YOU ENCOUNTER WATER COVERING THE ROAD, SEEK AN
ALTERNATE ROUTE. ALWAYS OBEY OFFICIAL ROAD SIGNS FOR CLOSURES AND
DETOURS.
