HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF
KAUAI...OAHU...MAUI AND MOLOKAI UNTIL 6 PM HST TODAY.

AT 5 AM HST...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM DARBY WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 19.8N...LONGITUDE 157.3W...OR ABOUT 110 MILES SOUTH-
SOUTHEAST OF HONOLULU...OR ABOUT 205 MILES SOUTHEAST OF LIHUE.
TROPICAL STORM DARBY IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWEST AT 9 MPH. MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM DARBY HAS MOVED FURTHER WEST OF THE
BIG ISLAND THIS MORNING AND IS WEST OF THE LEEWARD COASTAL WATERS.
ON OAHU LATE LAST NIGHT IN THE KOOLAU RANGE WINDS WERE GUSTING TO
60 MILES PER HOUR...AND ON MAUI IN THE KAUPO GAP WINDS WERE
GUSTING TO 51 MILES PER HOUR. DARBY WILL REMAIN A TROPICAL STORM
OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES JUST SOUTH OF THE MAIN
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS. HOWEVER...LOCALLY STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN
WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE IN ASSOCIATION WITH DARBY FOR A WHILE LONGER.
THE TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND UP TO 80 MILES FROM THE
CENTER.

PASSING RAINBANDS WILL BRING PERIODS OF SHOWERS. THERE IS A CHANCE
FOR INTENSE DOWNPOURS OR THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP THIS
MORNING...MAINLY NEAR MAUI COUNTY...AND THEN SPREADING TO OAHU
AND KAUAI LATER SUNDAY. IF HEAVIER STORMS DEVELOP...THEY COULD
CAUSE SIGNIFICANT FLASH FLOODING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TOTALS OF 5
TO 10 INCHES WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS UP TO 15 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITH
TROPICAL STORM DARBY. FOR MAUI COUNTY ISLANDS...STORM TOTALS UP
TO 5 TO 10 INCHES WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF 15 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.
ON OAHU...3 TO 5 INCHES WITH ISOLATED TOTALS OF 10 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED. FOR KAUAI COUNTY ISLANDS...3 TO 5 INCHES WITH ISOLATED
TOTALS OF 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED. SEE THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR
MORE DETAILS.

LOCALIZED DAMAGING WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED WITH
DARBY...ALONG WITH GUSTS OF 50 TO 60 MPH OR GREATER. THESE WINDS
ARE MOST LIKELY OVER MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN...THROUGH PASSES...
AND TO THE WEST OR SOUTHWEST OF THE MOUNTAINS WHERE WINDS WILL
BE BLOWING DOWNSLOPE.
LOOSE ITEMS...SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS AND OUTDOOR FURNITURE...WILL

TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN OCCURRING OVER MAUI COUNTY.
THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS IS 52 PERCENT AT
HONOLULU...51 PERCENT AT JOINT BASED PEARL HARBOR HICKAM...56 PERCENT
