DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
AT 1100 PM EST...0300 UTC...THE CENTER OF ANA WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 35.1 NORTH...AND LONGITUDE 78.2 WEST. TROPICAL DEPRESSION
ANA CONTINUES TO WEAKEN SLOWLY AS THE CENTER OF CIRCULATION MOVES
FURTHER INLAND ACROSS NORTH CAROLINA. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE
HAS CONTINUED TO INCREASE SINCE LANDFALL. NEVERTHELESS...RADAR
IMAGERIES CONTINUE TO SHOW DECENTLY HEALTHY RAINBAND STRUCTURES ON
THE EASTERN HALF OF THE CYCLONIC CIRCULATION. THE STRONGEST
REPORTED SURFACE WINDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH APPEARED TO BE LOCATED NEAR
AND JUST OFF THE COAST TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE CIRCULATION CENTER.
AFTER MOVING IN A GENERALLY NORTHERLY DIRECTION EARLIER
TODAY...ANA HAS BEGUN TO TURN MORE TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST IN
THE PAST FEW HOURS. NUMERICAL MODELS ARE IN CLOSE AGREEMENT IN
MOVING ANA NORTH-NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS NORTH CAROLINA TONIGHT INTO
MONDAY...REACHING SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA BY MONDAY AFTERNOON.
BEYOND THAT POINT...A COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THE LARGE
LATE-SEASON WINTER STORM THAT HAS BROUGHT HEAVY SNOW IN THE
NORTHERN PLAINS IS FORECAST TO APPROACH ANA AND ACCELERATE IT MORE
TOWARD THE NORTHEAST LATER ON MONDAY. THE CENTER OF ANA IS
EXPECTED TO SKIRT THE COAST OF NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC MONDAY NIGHT
BEFORE BEING ABSORBED BY THE APPROACHING COLD FRONT AS ANA NEARS
THE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND COAST TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 30 MPH...50 KM/H...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1010 MB...29.83 INCHES.
