SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ANA IS NEARING THE COAST AT NORTH MYRTLE
BEACH. THE STORM WILL CONTINUE TO WEAKEN TODAY AS IT CONTINUES MOVING
VERY SLOWLY TO THE NORTHWEST OVER LAND TODAY. THE MAIN THREATS ARE
HEAVY RAIN AND POSSIBLE LOCALIZED FLOODING ALONG WITH STRONG AND GUSTY
WINDS TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* FLOODING RAIN:
POOR DRAINAGE AREAS...ESPECIALLY IN THE COUNTIES ALONG THE COAST MAY
EXPERIENCE FLOODING.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - LOCALIZED FLOODING OF LOW LYING AND URBAN AREAS.
    - FLOOD WATERS CAN ENTER A FEW STRUCTURES...ESPECIALLY THOSE SITUATED
      IN OR NEAR FLOOD PRONE LOCATIONS.
    - FLOODING IS POSSIBLE ACROSS SOME ROADWAYS AS WELL...INCLUDING LOW LYING
      INTERSECTIONS AND OTHER POOR DRAINAGE SPOTS ALONG SECONDARY ROADS.
  DRAINAGE DITCHES MAY BECOME FULL AND SPREAD ONTO ROADWAYS.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA AND NORTHEAST SOUTH
CAROLINA, LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

* WIND:
PROTECT AGAINST GUSTY WINDS ALONG THE COASTAL COUNTIES MAINLY
NORTH OF MYRTLE BEACH.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - MINOR DAMAGE TO PORCHES...AWNINGS...CARPORTS...SHEDS AND
      UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECTS BLOWN ABOUT.
    - SMALL TREE LIMBS BROKEN OFF. SOME FENCES MAY BE BLOWN OVER.
    - SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES.
- HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES MAY BECOME DIFFICULT TO DRIVE.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA AND NORTHEAST SOUTH
CAROLINA, LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

* OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS:
MINOR TO MODERATE BEACH EROSION IS EXPECTED MAINLY ALONG EAST AND SOUTHEAST
FACING BEACHES MAINLY NORTH OF MYRTLE BEACH. STRONG RIP CURRENTS...BREAKING
WAVES UP TO 7 FT...AND STRONG LONGSHORE CURRENTS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS SURF
CONDITIONS.
