THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
FOR PEOPLE ON GUAM...ROTA...TINIAN AND SAIPAN IN THE NORTHERN
MARIANA ISLANDS.
.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A TYPHOON WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR TINIAN AND SAIPAN AS WELL AS
THEIR COASTAL WATERS. TYPHOON CONDITIONS...INCLUDING DESTRUCTIVE
WINDS OF 74 MPH OR MORE...ARE POSSIBLE WITHIN 48 HOURS.
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR GUAM AND ROTA AS WELL AS
THEIR COASTAL WATERS. TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS...INCLUDING
DAMAGING WINDS OF 39 MPH OR MORE...ARE POSSIBLE WITHIN 48 HOURS.
ALL PERSONS IN THE WATCH AREAS SHOULD REVIEW THEIR PREPAREDNESS

NEAR LATITUDE 12.5N...LONGITUDE 150.3E. THIS IS ABOUT 355 MILES
EAST-SOUTHEAST OF SAIPAN...360 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF TINIAN AND
ROTA...AND 380 MILES EAST OF GUAM. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 30
MPH. TROPICAL DEPRESSION 16W IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWEST AT 8 MPH.
