AT 8 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ARTHUR WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 30.2N...LONGITUDE 79.2W. THIS WAS ABOUT 180 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CHARLESTON SC...OR ABOUT 170 MILES SOUTHEAST
OF SAVANNAH GA. STORM MOTION WAS N OR 355 DEGREES AT 8 MPH. STORM
INTENSITY WAS 70 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL STORM ARTHUR IS FORECAST TO STRENGTHEN TO A HURRICANE AS
IT CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARD THE NORTH TONIGHT. THE HURRICANE WILL
THEN TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AND WILL PASS JUST EAST OF THE
COASTAL WATERS THURSDAY. AS A RESULT...TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS
ARE EXPECTED ACROSS PARTS OF THE COASTAL WATERS LATE TONIGHT AND
THURSDAY. THE HURRICANE WILL THEN ACCELERATE AWAY FROM THE REGION
THURSDAY NIGHT.

THURSDAY MORNING AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
MAXIMUM WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 25 TO 35 KNOTS WITH GUSTS AS
HIGH AS 40 TO 45 KNOTS. MAXIMUM SEAS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 8 TO 10
FEET THURSDAY. CONDITIONS WILL THEN IMPROVE THURSDAY
NIGHT...ESPECIALLY AFTER MIDNIGHT...AS THE HURRICANE PULLS AWAY

TROPICAL STORM FORCE GUSTS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATE TONIGHT AND
CONTINUE INTO EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON. MAXIMUM WINDS ARE FORECAST
TO BE 25 TO 30 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 40 KNOTS DURING THIS TIME.
MAXIMUM SEAS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 9 TO 13 FEET. STRONGEST WINDS
AND HIGHEST SEAS ARE MOST LIKELY 40 NM TO 60 NM FROM THE COAST.
CONDITIONS WILL THEN IMPROVE RAPIDLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND
THURSDAY NIGHT AS THE HURRICANE PULLS AWAY FROM THE AREA.
