URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE LOCAL STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL
545 AM EDT TUE JUL 1 2014

...TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE LIKELY TO BECOME A TROPICAL STORM LATER
TODAY...

.NEW INFORMATION...
THE CENTER LOCATION OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE HAS BEEN UPDATED.
THERE ARE NO CHANGES TO THE WATCHES AND WARNINGS.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT
LOCATIONS OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA AND THE ADJACENT ATLANTIC
COASTAL WATERS.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES
FOR ALL OF THE EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ATLANTIC WATERS OUT TO
60 NAUTICAL MILES.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH CONTINUES ALONG THE COAST FOR THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES...SAINT LUCIE...INDIAN RIVER...BREVARD...
AND VOLUSIA.

ALTHOUGH A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS NOT IN EFFECT FOR MARTIN
COUNTY...POSSIBLE IMPACTS FROM RELATED HAZARDS ARE STILL A
CONCERN.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 4 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 27.6N...LONGITUDE 79.3W. THIS WAS ABOUT 100 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF CAPE CANAVERAL FL...OR ABOUT 70 MILES EAST OF FORT
PIERCE FL. STORM MOTION WAS A SLOW DRIFT TO THE WEST AT 2 MPH.
STORM INTENSITY WAS 35 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE WILL KEEP A SLOW WEST TO NORTHWEST DRIFT
BEFORE TURNING TO THE NORTH LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT. IT IS LIKELY
TO STRENGTHEN AND BECOME A TROPICAL STORM LATER TODAY WITH THE
CENTER PASSING EAST OF CAPE CANAVERAL OVERNIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY
MORNING. A SWATH OF SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS WILL
DEVELOP AND MOVE NORTH THROUGH THE COASTAL WATERS...BUT SHOULD
REMAIN JUST OFFSHORE. EVEN SO...SINCE SOME UNCERTAINTY EXISTS IN
THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE DEVELOPING
WIND FIELD...A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT ALONG THE
COAST FROM FORT PIERCE TO JUST SOUTH OF FLAGLER BEACH.

THE PRIMARY HAZARDS OVER LAND WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH BANDED RAIN
SQUALLS PRODUCING WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 60 MPH...ESPECIALLY ALONG
THE COAST. WHILE THE SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE
FORECAST TO REMAIN JUST OFFSHORE...UNTIL THE SYSTEM TURNS FULLY
NORTH THERE REMAINS AT LEAST MODEST POTENTIAL THAT THE WATCHES
WOULD NEED TO BE UPGRADED TO WARNINGS IF THE SYSTEM WANDERS CLOSER
TO THE COAST THAN ANTICIPATED.

THERE IS A MODERATE THREAT OF FLOODING RAIN FOR ALL EAST CENTRAL
FLORIDA COASTAL COUNTIES...WITH AN ELEVATED THREAT INLAND. RAINFALL
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ISOLATED
HIGHER AMOUNTS UP TO 5 INCHES THROUGH WEDNESDAY...ESPECIALLY NEAR
THE COAST.

THERE IS AN ELEVATED THREAT FOR ISOLATED TORNADOES AND WATERSPOUTS
MAINLY ALONG THE COAST.

AT AREA BEACHES...A BUILDING SURF TEAMED WITH AN INCREASING RISK
OF RIP CURRENTS WILL MAKE FOR UNSAFE SWIMMING CONDITIONS OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS. PASSING SQUALLS WITH STRONG WIND GUSTS WILL ALSO
CAUSE LOOSE AND LIGHTER WEIGHT BEACH GEAR TO BLOW ABOUT.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REGARDING MARINE INTERESTS WITHIN THE COASTAL WATERS UNDER A
WARNING...SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT AND WELL SECURED.

FOR THOSE UNDER A WATCH ALONG THE COAST...CONTINUE WITH YOUR

WISELY...MAKING INFORMED DECISIONS.

CLOSELY MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR OTHER LOCAL NEWS OUTLETS
FOR OFFICIAL STORM INFORMATION. FREQUENTLY LISTEN FOR POSSIBLE
CHANGES TO THE FORECAST AS THE SITUATION UNFOLDS.

WARRANT.

CONSIDER YOUR VULNERABILITY TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS. AN

TO STRENGTHEN INTO A TROPICAL STORM THIS AFTERNOON. AS A
RESULT...IT WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY WINDY NEAR THE COAST. THE
LATEST FORECAST IS FOR SUSTAINED WINDS TO REMAIN BELOW TROPICAL
STORM FORCE OVER LAND. HOWEVER...BANDED SQUALLS SHOULD PRODUCE
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 60 MPH.

...INLAND FLOODING...
RAINBANDS WILL BRING PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN ACCUMULATING 1 TO 3
INCHES CLOSE TO THE COAST WITH LOCALIZED AMOUNTS UP TO 5 INCHES
POSSIBLE THROUGH WEDNESDAY. AS SUCH...THERE IS A MODERATE THREAT
FOR HEAVY RAIN TO PRODUCE LOCAL FLOODING.

...TORNADOES...

POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. ISOLATED AMOUNTS TO 5 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE.
