TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE LOCAL STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL
245 AM EDT TUE JUL 1 2014
...TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE CONTINUES TO DRIFT SOUTHWEST JUST OFFSHORE
THE FLORIDA EAST COAST...
.NEW INFORMATION...
THE CENTER LOCATION OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE HAS BEEN UPDATED.
.AREAS AFFECTED...
THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT
LOCATIONS AND COASTAL WATERS OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA AND ATLANTIC
WATERS.
.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR
ALL OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ATLANTIC WATERS OUT TO 60 NAUTICAL
MILES.
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH CONTINUES ALONG THE COAST FOR THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES...SAINT LUCIE...INDIAN RIVER...BREVARD...
AND VOLUSIA.
ALTHOUGH TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCHES OR WARNINGS ARE NOT IN EFFECT
FOR MARTIN COUNTY...POSSIBLE IMPACTS FROM RELATED HAZARDS ARE
STILL A CONCERN.
.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 1 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 27.5N...LONGITUDE 79.2W. THIS WAS ABOUT 100 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF CAPE CANAVERAL FL...OR ABOUT 70 MILES EAST OF FORT
PIERCE FL. STORM MOTION WAS A SOUTHWEST DRIFT AT 2 MPH. STORM
INTENSITY WAS 35 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL DEPRESSION ONE IS FORECAST TO ASSUME A SLOW WEST TO WEST-
NORTHWEST MOTION LATER TODAY WITH A TURN TOWARD THE NORTH BY
WEDNESDAY. THE CENTER IS FORECAST TO REMAIN OFFSHORE OF THE EAST
CENTRAL FLORIDA COAST AND IS FORECAST TO BECOME A TROPICAL STORM
LATER TODAY.
SINCE SOME UNCERTAINTY EXISTS IN THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK AS WELL
AS THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE DEVELOPING WIND FIELD...A TROPICAL
STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT ALONG THE COAST FROM FORT PIERCE TO JUST
SOUTH OF FLAGLER BEACH. THE PRIMARY HAZARDS OVER LAND WILL BE
ASSOCIATED WITH BANDED RAIN SQUALLS PRODUCING WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO
50 MPH...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE COAST. WHILE THE SUSTAINED TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WINDS ARE FORECAST TO REMAIN JUST OFFSHORE...THERE IS
THE REASONABLE POTENTIAL THAT THESE WATCHES WOULD NEED TO BE
UPGRADED TO WARNINGS IF THE SYSTEM WANDERS CLOSER TO THE COAST
THAN ANTICIPATED.
RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH
ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS UP TO 5 INCHES THROUGH WEDNESDAY MAINLY
NEAR THE COAST WHICH MAY CAUSE SOME FLOODING. THERE IS A MODERATE
THREAT OF FLOODING RAIN FOR ALL EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA COASTAL
COUNTIES.
ALSO...THERE IS AN ELEVATED THREAT FOR ISOLATED LANDFALLING
TORNADOES AND WATERSPOUTS ALONG THE COAST.
.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

WARNING...SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT AND WELL SECURED.
