THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ANDREA WAS MOVING NORTHEASTWARD
ACROSS EASTERN GEORGIA. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN 45 MPH WITH
HIGHER GUSTS.

AT 2 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ANDREA WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 31.3N...LONGITUDE 81.7W. THIS WAS ABOUT 300 MILES
SOUTHWEST OF WILMINGTON NC...OR ABOUT 230 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
MYRTLE BEACH SC. STORM MOTION WAS NE OR 45 DEGREES AT 19 MPH.
STORM INTENSITY WAS 45 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
ALTHOUGH THE CENTER OF ANDREA IS CURRENTLY ALONG THE GEORGIA COAST
RAINFALL FROM THE OUTER BANDS ARE ALREADY IMPACTING THE AREA.
CURRENTLY THE MAIN CONCERN IS FRESHWATER FLOODING AND POTENTIAL
FOR WEAK SHORT LIVED TORNADOES...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE COAST.

MAXIMUM WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 25 TO 35 MPH RANGE WITH
GUSTS TO 45 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN ACROSS
COASTAL SOUTH CAROLINA AROUND 5 AM THIS MORNING...SPREADING
NORTH THROUGH COASTAL NORTH CAROLINA DURING THE LATE MORNING
HOURS. GUSTY WINDS MAY CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AS THE
CENTER OF ANDREA MOVES INTO NORTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
THE IMPACT FROM COMBINED STORM SURGE AND TIDE WATERS IS EXPECTED
TO BE MINIMAL. THE LATEST SURGE INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL
HURRICANE CENTER IS A SURGE OF 1 TO 2 FEET SOUTH OF CAPE FEAR
ALONG THE NORTHEASTERN COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA. HEAVY RAIN FALLING
AROUND THE 7 AM HIGH TIDE THIS MORNING COULD LEAD TO MINOR
COASTAL FLOODING IN AREAS THAT DRAIN INTO TIDAL CREEKS OR THE
OCEAN.

...INLAND FLOODING...
A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE AREA. TWO TO THREE
INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO FALL ACROSS THE AREA WITH THE
PASSAGE OF TROPICAL STORM ANDREA LATER TODAY. SOILS ARE CLOSE TO
SATURATION AND MUCH OF THE RAIN WILL BECOME RUNOFF. LISTEN FOR
POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS FOR YOUR LOCATION...AND BE READY TO ACT IF
FLOODING RAINS OCCUR.

...COASTAL HAZARDS...
MINOR TO PERHAPS MODERATE BEACH EROSION IS EXPECTED DUE TO TIDES
AND HIGH SURF TODAY. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EROSION WILL OCCUR
AROUND HIGH TIDE THIS MORNING. STRONG RIP CURRENTS ARE EXPECTED
AND BEACH GOERS SHOULD PLAN TO REMAIN OUT OF THE WATER.

ISOLATED TORNADOES AND WATERSPOUTS WILL BE POSSIBLE AS THE CENTER
OF TROPICAL STORM ANDREA APPROACHES AND THEN PASSES WELL INLAND
