...TROPICAL STORM WATCHES AND WARNINGS CONTINUE ACROSS ALL OF
EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA...
.NEW INFORMATION...
ISAAC IS MOVING NORTHWEST JUST OFF THE COAST OF NORTHEAST CUBA.
TROPICAL STORM WIND GUSTS IN SQUALLS COULD AFFECT OKEECHOBEE
COUNTY AND THE TREASURE COAST AS EARLY AS MID MORNING SUNDAY.
.AREAS AFFECTED...
THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS ACROSS EAST
CENTRAL FLORIDA AND THE ADJACENT ATLANTIC WATERS.
.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
INDIAN RIVER...OKEECHOBEE...ST. LUCIE AND MARTIN.
FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR
ATLANTIC WATERS SOUTH OF SEBASTIAN INLET. A TROPICAL STORM WATCH
IS IN EFFECT FOR THE WATERS NORTH OF SEBASTIAN TO FLAGLER
BEACH.
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
INLAND VOLUSIA...NORTHERN LAKE...ORANGE...SEMINOLE...SOUTHERN
BREVARD...OSCEOLA...COASTAL VOLUSIA...SOUTHERN LAKE AND NORTHERN
BREVARD.
.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 7 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 21.7N...LONGITUDE 76.7W. THIS WAS ABOUT 460 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF FORT PIERCE FL. STORM MOTION WAS NW OR
310 DEGREES AT 20 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN NEAR 60 MPH
WITH HIGHER GUSTS. STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48
HOURS...AND ISAAC IS EXPECTED TO BE AT OR NEAR HURRICANE STRENGTH
WHEN IT REACHES THE FLORIDA KEYS.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
WITH THE LATEST FORECAST...ISAAC WILL MOVE NORTHWEST INTO THE
FLORIDA STRAITS TONIGHT AND INTO THE FLORIDA KEYS SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. AS IT MOVES NEAR THE FLORIDA KEYS AND INTO SOUTHEAST GULF
OF MEXICO SUNDAY NIGHT ISAAC IS EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN TO A
HURRICANE.
WHILE THERE IS STILL THE POTENTIAL FOR CHANGES IN THE TRACK FORECAST
OF ISAAC...THE OVERALL FORECAST COURSE WILL MOVE A STRENGTHENING
ISAAC OFF THE SOUTHWEST COAST OF FLORIDA SUNDAY NIGHT AND INTO
EARLY MONDAY. THIS WILL MEAN THAT FREQUENT GUSTS TO TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WILL SPREAD NORTH ACROSS THE WARNING AREA LATE SUNDAY
AFTERNOON...SUNDAY NIGHT AND INTO EARLY MONDAY.
THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE LIKELY TO BE ACROSS OKEECHOBEE COUNTY
WHICH WILL BE CLOSER TO THE STORM CENTER...AND ALONG THE IMMEDIATE
COAST OF MARTIN...SAINT LUCIE AND INDIAN RIVER COUNTIES WHERE
SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED. A POSSIBILITY
OF MINOR WIND DAMAGE WILL EXIST WITHIN THE WARNING AREA.
DUE TO THE TRACK OF ISAAC WEST OF THE AREA...THERE WILL BE A
SIGNIFICANT AND PROLONGED THREAT FOR TORNADOES. THE THREAT WILL
BEGIN SUNDAY MORNING OVER MARTIN AND OKEECHOBEE COUNTIES AND SPREAD
NORTH DURING THE DAY. THIS THREAT WILL CONTINUE INTO EARLY MONDAY
AND NOT DIMINISH UNTIL ISAAC PULLS NORTHWEST OF THE AREA MONDAY
NIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY.
DUE TO THE INCREASING SHEAR SUNDAY INTO MONDAY...SQUALLS WRAPPING
AROUND THE EASTERN SIDE OF ISAAC WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO ROTATE
AND...IN SOME CASES...MAY PRODUCE ISOLATED LONG TRACK AND
DESTRUCTIVE TORNADOES. TORNADO WATCHES MAY BE REQUIRED FOR
PORTIONS OF THE AREA ON SUNDAY.
THE MAIN PERIOD OF SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ACROSS THE AREA IS
EXPECTED FROM MID DAY SUNDAY ACROSS THE TREASURE COAST AND
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY AND SPREADING NORTHWARD TO THE REMAINDER OF EAST
CENTRAL FLORIDA SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...AND THROUGH SUNDAY
NIGHT. INTENSE RAIN SQUALLS WILL BRING THE THREAT OF STRONG
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS
CAUSING LOCALIZED FLOODING AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.
ALONG THE COAST...ROUGH SURF...BEACH EROSION AND RIP CURRENTS ARE
LIKELY.
.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
