...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
FINAL PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE
COMPLETED BEFORE CONDITIONS DETERIORATE. THE ONSET OF GUSTY WINDS
AND HEAVY RAINS CAN CAUSE OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES TO BECOME DANGEROUS.
SECURE LOOSE OUTDOOR OBJECTS WHICH CAN BE BLOWN AROUND. IF YOU
LIVE IN A POORLY CONSTRUCTED HOME...LEAVE IT FOR MORE SUBSTANTIAL
SHELTER.
&&
...PROBABILITY OF TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE CONDITIONS...
THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME.
ALSO...THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS
LESS THAN 45 PERCENT. THIS REPRESENTS A GENERAL DOWNWARD TREND
SINCE THE LAST FORECAST.
...INLAND FLOODING...
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE AREA. SEE LATEST
FORECAST FOR LATEST INFORMATION. LISTEN FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD
WARNINGS FOR YOUR LOCATION...AND BE READY TO ACT IF FLOODING
RAINS OCCUR.
RAIN BANDS WITH EMBEDDED TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS ASSOCIATED WITH
TROPICAL STORM ISAAC WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE U.S. VIRGIN
ISLANDS AND PUERTO RICO AND WILL BECOME MORE FREQUENT THIS
AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. THESE RAIN BANDS WILL EVENTUALLY GENERATE
ENOUGH RUNOFF TO CAUSE RAPID RIVER RISES ON AREA RIVERS...STREAMS
AND GUTS. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL RANGE FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES
INCHES WITH LOCALIZED AMOUNTS OF UP TO 8 INCHES. MUDSLIDES AND DEBRIS
FLOW ARE ALSO POSSIBLE IN AREAS OF STEEP TERRAIN.
...WINDS...
MAXIMUM WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 20 TO 30 MPH RANGE WITH
GUSTS TO 50 MPH.
...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
THE IMPACT FROM COMBINED STORM SURGE AND TIDE WATERS DEPEND ON
THE PRECISE SIZE...INTENSITY AND TRACK OF THE SYSTEM AS IT
APPROACHES THE COAST. AT THIS TIME...THE STORM SURGE IS FORECAST
TO RANGE FROM 1 TO 3 FEET...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER LEVELS IN
ST CROIX THIS AFTERNOON AND SOUTHWEST PUERTO RICO LATER TONIGHT.
REMEMBER...STORM SURGE WILL BE ACCOMPANIED WITH HIGH SEAS.
...TORNADOES...
ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL MOST LIKELY OCCUR ACROSS THE FORECAST
AREA TODAY IN THE OUTER RAIN BANDS...WHEN THE CENTER OF TROPICAL
STORM ISAAC APPROACHES AND THEN PASSES CLOSE TO PUERTO RICO...AND
THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. REMEMBER...TORNADOES CAN DEVELOP MANY
MILES AWAY FROM THE TROPICAL CYCLONE CENTER OF CIRCULATION.

...PROBABILITY OF TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE CONDITIONS...
THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME.
ALSO...THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS
LESS THAN 88 PERCENT. THIS REPRESENTS LITTLE CHANGE SINCE THE
LAST FORECAST.
...WINDS AND SEAS...
THE LATEST AREA FORECAST IS FOR MAXIMUM WINDS OF 25 TO 35 KNOTS
WITH GUSTS TO 45 KNOTS. HOWEVER...AS TROPICAL STORM ISAAC
APPROACHES...STRONGER WINDS ARE STILL POSSIBLE. CONTINUE TO
CLOSELY MONITOR THE FORECAST FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES AND BE
READY TO ACT. LOCALLY STRONGER WINDS WILL GENERATE VERY ROUGH SEAS.
...TORNADOES AND WATERSPOUTS...
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED WATERSPOUTS WILL BE MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR
ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA IN THE OUTER RAIN BANDS...AS THE CENTER
OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC APPROACHES THE REGION AND THEN PASSES
ACROSS THE LOCAL WATERS OF PUERTO RICO...AND THE U.S. VIRGIN
ISLANDS THIS MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY. REMEMBER...WATERSPOUTS CAN
DEVELOP MANY MILES AWAY FROM THE TROPICAL CYCLONE CENTER OF
CIRCULATION.
