FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON NEWLY FORMED
TROPICAL STORM OPHELIA LOCATED ABOUT 1585 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF
THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS.
A SMALL AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOCATED ABOUT 225 MILES EAST OF
THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS IS PRODUCING DISORGANIZED SHOWER AND
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM...HOWEVER THIS LOW COULD BRING A BRIEF
PERIOD OF RAINFALL AND GUSTY WINDS TO PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN
LEEWARD ISLANDS TODAY AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 15 TO 20 MPH.
THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 0 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
