RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT LAND
LOCATIONS AND COASTAL WATERS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND THE UPPER
TEXAS BAYS AND COASTAL WATERS.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
JACKSON...MATAGORDA.
FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR
PORTIONS OF THE UPPER TEXAS BAYS AND COASTAL WATERS.
.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 9 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM DON WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 26.2N...LONGITUDE 94.9W. THIS WAS ABOUT 180 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF MATAGORDA TX...OR ABOUT 190 MILES SOUTH OF
FREEPORT TX. STORM MOTION WAS WNW OR 300 DEGREES AT 14 MPH. STORM
INTENSITY WAS 50 MPH.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL STORM DON CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARDS THE LOWER TEXAS COAST
WITH LANDFALL EXPECTED LATER TONIGHT. WITH THE CURRENT FORECAST
TRACK IMPACTS TO SOUTHEAST TEXAS ARE EXPECTED TO BE MINIMAL. FOR
MARINE INTERESTS...TIDE LEVELS ARE CURRENTLY RUNNING ONE HALF TO
ONE FOOT ABOVE NORMAL. SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE NO
LONGER EXPECTED BUT GUSTS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS
THE MARINE WATERS AND MATAGORDA BAY IN STRONGER STORMS. SEAS WILL
RUN 5 TO 7 FEET ACROSS THE NEARSHORE WATERS AND 7 TO 10 FEET
OFFSHORE. THESE SEAS WILL BEGIN TO SUBSIDE LATER TONIGHT. THERE IS
A RISK OF RIP CURRENTS TODAY ALONG GULF FACING BEACHES FOR ALL OF
THE UPPER TEXAS COAST.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS WILL AVERAGE ONE HALF TO
ONE INCH...WITH ISOLATED 3 INCH AMOUNTS. NO FLOODING ISSUES ARE
EXPECTED WITH THESE RAINFALL AMOUNTS. THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF
TORNADOES TODAY AND TONIGHT WITH THE MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS IN
PLACE ACROSS THE REGION.
