WINDS ARE EXPECTED THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 40 TO 50 MPH RANGE WITH FREQUENT
HIGHER GUSTS MAINLY ACROSS COASTAL REGIONS OF CAMERON...WILLACY
AND KENEDY COUNTIES. WINDS OF 35 TO 45 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS ARE
EXPECTED OVER INLAND AREAS OF CAMERON...WILLACY AND PORTIONS OF
HIDALGO AND BROOKS COUNTIES WITH WINDS TO 40 MPH OVER STARR AND
JIM HOGG COUNTY. MINOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO OLDER MOBILE HOMES.
RESIDENTS SHOULD MOVE LOOSE ITEMS INDOORS...SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS
AND OUTDOOR FURNITURE...AS THEY WILL BE BLOWN AROUND. NEWLY
PLANTED OR YOUNG TREES AND SHRUBS MAY BE UPROOTED IF NOT SECURED
PROPERLY. ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES WILL BE POSSIBLE.
...INLAND FLOODING...
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS TO 7
INCHES POSSIBLE ALONG AND SOUTH OF CENTER OF DON.
RESIDENTS CAN EXPECT MINOR FLOODING OF ROADS...ESPECIALLY THOSE
WITH POOR DRAINAGE. KNOWN INTERSECTIONS WITH VERY POOR DRAINAGE
MAY HAVE WATER LEVELS UP TO 3 FEET. OTHER POOR DRAINAGE AREAS WILL
HAVE WATER RISES OF 1 FOOT.
...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
THE IMPACT FROM COMBINED STORM SURGE AND TIDE WATERS IS EXPECTED
TO BE MINIMAL WITH A STORM TIDE RUNNING ONLY 1 TO 2 FEET. HIGH
TIDE IS EXPECTED AROUND 604 AM SATURDAY MORNING ONCE THE CENTER OF
DON HAS MOVED INLAND. LARGE POUNDING SURF IS ANTICIPATED AS THE
CENTER OF DON APPROACHES.
COASTAL RESIDENTS IN TYPICAL FLOOD PRONE AREAS CAN EXPECT TIDAL
RUN UP AND PERHAPS SOME OVERWASH DURING HIGH TIDE. WAVE ACTION IN
EXPOSED AREAS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO PIERS...DOCKS...AND BOATS.
OTHER COASTAL LOCATIONS SHOULD EXPERIENCE MINIMAL IMPACT.
...TORNADOES...
THERE IS LOW RISK OF TORNADOES TO OCCUR WITHIN STRONGER RAIN
BANDS. OUTER RAIN BANDS COULD MOVE INLAND LATE THIS AFTERNOON WITH
MORE FREQUENT RAIN BANDS THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. TORNADOES
ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL SYSTEMS CAN AND DO OCCUR WITH LITTLE OR
NO WARNING.
