THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
FOR PEOPLE ON FAIS AND ULITHI IN YAP STATE.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR FAIS AND ULITHI IN YAP
STATE. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS OF 40 MPH OR GREATER ARE POSSIBLE
WITHIN 48 HOURS.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 700 AM CHST...2100Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION 11W WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 9.7 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 141.0 DEGREES
EAST.

THIS IS ABOUT     35 MILES EAST OF FAIS
                  95 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF ULITHI
                 200 MILES EAST OF YAP AND
                 360 MILES SOUTHWEST OF GUAM.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION 11W IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWEST AT 13 MPH. A SLIGHT
TURN TO THE NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED WITH LITTLE CHANGE IN FORWARD
SPEED DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TD 11W IS STILL EXPECTED TO SLOWLY STRENGTHEN DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS AND MAY BECOME A TROPICAL STORM THIS AFTERNOON.

RESIDENTS SHOULD ALREADY BE PREPARED TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY IF
FAIS AND ULITHI ARE PLACED UNDER A WARNING. A SUITABLE SHELTER AWAY
FROM SHORE SHOULD BE READILY AVAILABLE TO PROTECT AGAINST DAMAGING
WINDS...COASTAL INUNDATION AND HEAVY RAIN. MAKE SURE THAT ADEQUATE
FOOD AND DRINKING WATER ARE STORED AND AVAILABLE. DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY
INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL ON SMALL BOATS FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

THE STRONGEST WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL DEPRESSION 11W WILL
REMAIN TO THE NORTH OF FAIS AND ULITHI AS THE CENTER PASSES JUST TO
THE NORTHEAST AROUND MIDDAY TODAY. HOWEVER...DAMAGING WEST WINDS OF
30 TO 40 MPH REMAIN POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AFTER TD 11 PASSES...
ESPECIALLY NEAR HEAVIER SHOWERS TODAY AND TONIGHT. WINDS WILL SHIFT
TO SOUTHWEST TONIGHT AS THE CENTER OF 11W MOVES FARTHER NORTH OF THE
ISLANDS.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
OFFSHORE SEAS OF 9 TO 12 FEET WITH SURF HEIGHTS OF 10 TO 13 FEET CAN
BE EXPECTED ON EXPOSED SHORELINES THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. INUNDATION
OF ABOUT 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE HIGH TIDE IS POSSIBLE ON SOUTHERN...
WESTERN AND NORTHERN EXPOSURES...MOSTLY FROM A COMBINATION OF STORM-
AND MONSOON-GENERATED WAVES. RIP CURRENTS WILL BE STRONG AND LIFE
THREATENING.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE HEAVY
DOWNPOURS. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 2 TO 4 INCHES REMAINS POSSIBLE
THROUGH TONIGHT. LOCAL FLOODING WILL OCCUR IN POOR-DRAINAGE AND
LOW-LYING AREAS.
