THIS STATEMENT PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR
PEOPLE ON PAGAN...ALAMAGAN AND AGRIHAN IN THE NORTHERN MARIANA
ISLANDS.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR PAGAN...ALAMAGAN AND
AGRIHAN IN THE NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS
OF 40 MPH OR MORE ARE POSSIBLE WITHIN 48 HOURS.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 700 PM CHST...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM MA-ON WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 19.8 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 150.8 DEGREES
EAST.

THIS IS ABOUT 345 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF PAGAN
              350 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF ALAMAGAN
              340 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF AGRIHAN
              465 MILES NORTHEAST OF SAIPAN...AND
              595 MILES NORTHEAST OF GUAM.

TROPICAL STORM MA-ON IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWEST AT 12 MPH WITH MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 65 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL STORM MA-ON IS EXPECTED TO PASS ABOUT 150 MILES NORTH OF
PAGAN AROUND 600 PM ON THURSDAY. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS OF 40
MPH OR MORE ARE POSSIBLE THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY
EVENING.

...PAGAN...ALAMAGAN AND AGRIHAN...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
TAKE PRELIMINARY STEPS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY BEFORE THE
ARRIVAL OF DAMAGING WINDS...WHICH ARE POSSIBLE DURING THE DAY AND
EVENING ON THURSDAY. BE PREPARED TO TAKE SHELTER IF A TROPICAL STORM
WARNING IS ISSUED...POSSIBLY ON SHORT NOTICE. SMALL CRAFT REMAIN IN
PORT. DO NOT ATTEMPT INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL ON SMALL CRAFT FOR THE NEXT
SEVERAL DAYS.

...WIND INFORMATION...
NORTHWEST WINDS WILL RISE TO 20 TO 30 MPH TONIGHT...THEN BECOME WEST
AND INCREASE TO 30 TO 40 MPH THURSDAY. IF TROPICAL STORM MA-ON
TRACKS SLIGHTLY FARTHER SOUTH OR INTENSIFIES MORE RAPIDLY THAN
FORECAST...WINDS MAY EXCEED 40 MPH THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY
MORNING.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
STRONG WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE HAZARDOUS SURF OF
12 TO 15 FEET OR MORE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY ON SOUTHERN AND WESTERN
EXPOSURES. SURF WILL REMAIN HIGH AT 9 TO 12 FEET THROUGH EARLY NEXT
WEEK.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY RAINFALL SURROUNDING THE CENTER OF TROPICAL
STORM MA-ON...A LARGE AREA OF HEAVY RAINFALL IS PRESENT ON THE
SOUTHEAST SIDE OF THIS SYSTEM. THIS MEANS SHOWERS AND SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN DURING AN EXTENDED
PERIOD RUNNING FROM THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. 4 TO 8 INCHES OF
RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE BEFORE THE RAINFALL GRADUALLY TAPERS OFF.

SERVICE AT 3 AM CHST THURSDAY MORNING OR SOONER IF NEEDED.
