LATITUDE 42.7N...LONGITUDE 72.8W. THIS WAS ABOUT 170 MILES
NORTH-NORTHEAST OF SANDY HOOK NJ. STORM MOTION WAS NNE OR
20 DEGREES AT 26 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 50 MPH.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL STORM IRENE WILL CONTINUE TO LIFT AWAY FROM OUR AREA.
THE STORM BROUGHT LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS...TORRENTIAL RAIN WITH
DANGEROUS FLOODING...AND SOME MODERATE TO SEVERE COASTAL FLOODING.
A TOTAL OF 4 TO 10 INCHES OF RAIN FELL OVER THE AREA WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS. HEAVY RAIN HAS ENDED...AND ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
WILL BE LIGHT. MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING AROUND THE REGION WILL
CONTINUE TO BE HANDLED BY WARNINGS. IF YOU ARE IN A SAFE
LOCATION...THEN PLEASE REMAIN THERE. IF FLOODING THREATENS
YOU...THEN PLEASE MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF POWER OUTAGES HAVE OCCURRED ACROSS THE
REGION.
MAJOR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS IN NEW JERSEY AND PENNSYLVANIA HAVE
