AT 11 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM IRENE WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 41.4N...LONGITUDE 73.7W. THIS WAS ABOUT 70 MILES
NORTH-NORTHEAST OF SANDY HOOK NJ. STORM MOTION WAS NNE OR
20 DEGREES AT 26 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 60 MPH.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL STORM IRENE WILL CONTINUE TO LIFT AWAY FROM OUR AREA.
THE STORM BROUGHT LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS...TORRENTIAL RAIN WITH
DANGEROUS FLOODING...AND MODERATE TO SEVERE COASTAL FLOODING.
A TOTAL 4 TO 10 INCHES OF RAINFALL FELL OVER THE AREA WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. HEAVY RAIN HAS ENDED...AND THE ONLY
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL BE LIGHT. HOWEVER...MODERATE TO MAJOR
FLOODING WAS OCCURRING THROUGHOUT THE AREA. FLOOD WARNINGS HAVE
BEEN ISSUED FOR MOST OF THE REGION. IF YOU ARE IN A SAFE
LOCATION...THEN PLEASE REMAIN THERE. IF FLOODING THREATENS
YOU...THEN PLEASE MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF POWER OUTAGES HAVE OCCURRED ACROSS THE
REGION.
MAJOR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS IN NEW JERSEY AND PENNSYLVANIA HAVE

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED AS IRENE MOVES AWAY. MAXIMUM
WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 25 TO 35 MPH RANGE WITH GUSTS TO
45 MPH. MINOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO OLDER MOBILE HOMES. RESIDENTS
SHOULD MOVE LOOSE ITEMS INDOORS...SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS AND OUTDOOR
