TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR THE ATLANTIC WATERS FROM FLAGLER BEACH
TO SEBASTIAN INLET HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED.

THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE
AND MARINE INTERESTS IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED FOR THE EAST
CENTRAL FLORIDA ATLANTIC WATERS BETWEEN FLAGLER BEACH AND
SEBASTIAN INLET OUT TO 60 NAUTICAL MILES. A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY
IS NOW IN EFFECT.
PLEASE CHECK THE LATEST PUBLIC AND MARINE FORECASTS FOR DETAILED
INFORMATION ABOUT ADDITIONAL HAZARDS.

AT 2 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IRENE WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 31.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 77.5 WEST. THIS WAS ABOUT 260 MILES
NORTHEAST OF CAPE CANAVERAL FL...OR ABOUT 310 MILES NORTH
NORTHEAST OF FORT PIERCE FL. STORM MOTION WAS NORTH AT 14 MPH.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE 100 MPH. THE LATEST MINIMUM CENTRAL
PRESSURE WAS 951 MB OR 28.08 INCHES.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
HURRICANE IRENE IS MOVING NORTHWARD ACROSS THE ATLANTIC WATERS
WELL OFFSHORE FROM THE GEORGIA COAST. SUSTAINED WINDS WILL
CONTINUE TO DECREASE INTO THIS EVENING...WITH WINDS ACROSS THE
ATLANTIC WATERS DECREASING TO 20 TO 30 KNOTS. A WIND ADVISORY
CONTINUES ACROSS LAND AREAS THROUGH 6 PM.
MODERATE SWELLS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA
ATLANTIC WATERS INTO THE WEEKEND WITH A HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK
EXPECTED.

AND 30 KNOTS THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH SEAS TO 14
TO 18 FEET. A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT AS SUSTAINED
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE NO LONGER EXPECTED. SMALL CRAFT
OPERATORS SHOULD CONTINUE TO REMAIN IN PORT UNTIL WINDS AND SEAS
SUBSIDE FURTHER LATER TONIGHT.

HAZARDOUS SURF CONDITIONS WILL EXIST AT THE COAST FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR BEACH
EROSION NEAR THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE. THESE THREATS WILL BE HIGHEST
DURING THE NEXT FEW HIGH TIDE CYCLES...WHICH WILL BE AROUND 6 AM
AND 6 PM TODAY AND SATURDAY.
A HIGH SURF AND COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY ARE IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS
EVENING. AN EXTREME RIP CURRENT THREAT IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON AND A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS IS
FORECAST TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
