FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON HURRICANE
IRENE LOCATED ABOUT 200 MILES SOUTHEAST OF GRAND TURK ISLAND.
A LARGE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 650 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST
OF THE NORTHERNMOST CAPE VERDE ISLANDS IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD
AT ABOUT 15 MPH. SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY HAS INCREASED A
LITTLE IN ASSOCIATION WITH THIS LOW...AND SOME DEVELOPMENT IS
POSSIBLE BEFORE UPPER-LEVEL WINDS INCREASE OVER THE DISTURBANCE IN
A COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...20 PERCENT...OF
BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.
