LOCATIONS OF INLAND SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI...SOUTHWEST ALABAMA...THE
WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND THE GULF COASTAL WATERS AND BAYS FROM
DESTIN TO PASCAGOULA AND OUT TO 60 NM.

A HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR COASTAL ALABAMA AND THE
NORTHWEST FLORIDA PANHANDLE INCLUDING ALL OF THE GULF COASTAL WATERS
FROM DESTIN TO PASCAGOULA AND OUT 60 NM.
A TROPICAL STORM WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF INLAND
SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWEST ALABAMA.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR PART OF SOUTHWEST ALABAMA
AND THE WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE.
.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 300 AM CST...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IDA WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 25.1 NORTH...LONGITUDE 87.9 WEST OR ABOUT 375 MILES SOUTH
OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA.
IDA IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 16 MPH. A TURN TOWARD
THE NORTH AND AN INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED ARE EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 24 HOURS...FOLLOWED BY A TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST ON TUESDAY.
ON THE FORECAST TRACK...IDA IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE GULF OF
MEXICO TODAY...AND APPROACH THE NORTHERN GULF COAST TONIGHT OR EARLY
TUESDAY.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN NEAR 105 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
IDA IS A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE.
GRADUAL WEAKENING IS FORECAST...BUT IDA IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN A
HURRICANE AS IT APPROACHES THE NORTHERN GULF COAST.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 90 MPH...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. IDA IS A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE.
ADDITIONAL WEAKENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
HOWEVER...IDA IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE A HURRICANE WHEN IT APPROACHES
THE GULF COAST LATE TONIGHT.

FOR A FEW HOURS MINOR TO MODERATE DAMAGE IS LIKELY TO MANY MOBILE

TOTAL TIDE HEIGHTS OF 4 TO 6 FEET ARE POSSIBLE FROM FORT MORGAN TO
DESTIN. THE TIME OF ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDE ON TUESDAY WILL RANGE
FROM 2 TO 3 AM ACROSS THE REGION. THIS WILL EXACERBATE STORM RELATED
FLOODING SINCE IDA'S FORECAST LANDFALL IS NEAR THIS TIME. IF IDA
MOVES IN EARLIER...THE TIME OF ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDE MAY COINCIDE
WITH LANDFALL WHICH COULD RAISE THE AFOREMENTIONED VALUES.
