...TROPICAL STORM FAY MOVING OVER THE FLORIDA STRAITS...
...OVERALL THREAT TO THE FLORIDA BIG BEND IS DECREASING...

...NEW INFORMATION...
AT 1100 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FAY WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 23.6 NORTH...LONGITUDE 81.5 WEST OR ABOUT 70 MILES
SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF KEY WEST FLORIDA. THIS WAS ALSO ABOUT 425 MILES
SOUTH OF THE SUWANNEE RIVER ENTRANCE. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WITH
TROPICAL STORM FAY REMAIN NEAR 60 MPH. THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM
CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS 1003 MB. FAY CONTINUES MOVING TO THE NORTH
NORTHWEST AROUND 13 MPH. A TURN TO THE NORTH IS EXPECTED OVER THE
NEXT 24 HOURS.

...AREAS AFFECTED...

THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS IN THE
FLORIDA BIG BEND AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AS WELL AS RESIDENTS
IN PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...
NO WATCHES AND WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE REGION AT THIS TIME.
THE POSSIBILITY OF FUTURE WATCHES AND WARNINGS IS DECREASING WITH
TIME AS IT IS APPEARING MORE AND MORE LIKELY THAT FAY WILL
CONTINUE TO MOVE FURTHER EAST OF THE REGION AND NOT DIRECTLY
AFFECT THE AREA.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

WHILE THE POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL STORM WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN THE
REGION IS DECREASING...RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR FAY
CLOSELY. IF A WATCH OR WARNING IS ISSUED FOR YOUR AREA...PUT YOUR
FAMILY'S SAFETY PLAN INTO ACTION. THESE PLANS INCLUDE..STOCKING UP ON
CANNED GOODS...WATER...AND OTHER NON PERISHABLE SUPPLIES. PURCHASING
BATTERIES...FILLING YOUR CAR UP WITH GAS...AND PURCHASING THE
NECESSARY SUPPLIES TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AND FAMILY SHOULD
HURRICANE OR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARRIVE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE
EXTRA CASH ON HAND. REFILL ANY IMPORTANT PRESCRIPTIONS THAT WILL
BE NEEDED THROUGH THE DURATION OF THE STORM. REMEMBER...SUPPLIES
SUCH AS FOOD...WATER AND MEDICINE MAY BE IN SHORT SUPPLY IN THE
DAYS AFTER THE STORM HAS PASSED. LISTEN CAREFULLY TO YOUR LOCAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS. BE READY TO TAKE ADDITIONAL
MEASURES IF REQUESTED TO DO SO. ALSO LISTEN TO FUTURE STATEMENTS
AND ADVISORIES ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER AND THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TALLAHASSEE FLORIDA.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...

BASED ON THE CURRENT TRACK OF FAY...A SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE IS
NOT EXPECTED IN OUR REGION. HOWEVER...SINCE THERE IS STILL SOME
UNCERTAINTY IN THE TRACK OF FAY...RESIDENTS ALONG THE FLORIDA BIG
BEND COAST IN TAYLOR AND DIXIE COUNTIES SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR THE
PROGRESS OF FAY AND PREPARE TO MAKE PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT THEIR
PROPERTY.

EXPECTED TIMES OF ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDES ALONG THE FLORIDA BIG
BEND COAST:

AT SUWANNEE RIVER ENTRANCE...
4:14 PM TUESDAY...4:31 AM WEDNESDAY...4:49 PM WEDNESDAY

AT STEINHATCHEE RIVER ENTRANCE...
4:10 PM TUESDAY...4:27 AM WEDNESDAY...4:55 PM WEDNESDAY

AT AUCILLA RIVER...
4:55 PM TUESDAY...5:05 AM WEDNESDAY...5:40 PM WEDNESDAY

...WINDS...

BASED ON THE OFFICIAL FORECAST...THE THREAT FOR TROPICAL STORM
FORCE WINDS ARE DECREASING. AT THIS TIME...THE GREATEST
PROBABILITY OF TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS WILL BE IN THE SOUTHEAST
FLORIDA BIG BEND COUNTIES OF TAYLOR...DIXIE AND LAFAYETTE. WIND
GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH MAY BE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS BEGINNING AFTER
MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY.

...INLAND FLOODING...

RAINFALL AMOUNTS UP TO 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER TOTALS
ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN FLORIDA BIG BEND WITH LESSER
AMOUNTS EXPECTED FURTHER NORTH AND WEST. BASED ON THE CURRENT
TRACK OF FAY...WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS NOT ANTICIPATED.

...NEXT UPDATE...

THIS STATEMENT WILL BE UPDATED BY 6 PM EDT...OR SOONER IF
CONDITIONS WARRANT.
