...NEW INFORMATION...

AT 800 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FAY WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 23.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 81.2 WEST OR ABOUT 100 MILES SOUTH
SOUTHEAST OF KEY WEST FLORIDA. THIS IS ALSO ABOUT 450 MILES SOUTH
OF THE SUWANNEE RIVER ENTRANCE. TROPICAL STORY FAY IS STRENGTHENING
AND NOW HAS MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 60 MPH. THE ESTIMATED
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1002 MB. FAY CONTINUES MOVING TO THE
NORTH NORTHWEST AROUND 12 MPH. A TURN TO THE NORTH IS EXPECTED
OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

...AREAS AFFECTED...

THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY PEOPLE IN
PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA AS WELL AS IN THE
FLORIDA BIG BEND AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO WATCHES OR WARNING IN EFFECT FOR THE
FLORIDA BIG BEND OR ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS. HOWEVER...ALL
INTERESTS IN THE AREA SHOULD CONTINUE TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE
LATEST FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER AS WELL AS ANY
STATEMENTS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN
TALLAHASSEE IN THE EVENT WATCHES BECOME NECESSARY LATER TODAY.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IF HURRICANE OR TROPICAL STORM WATCHES ARE POSTED...PREPARATIONS
SHOULD THEN BEGIN FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF TROPICAL STORM OR
HURRICANE CONDITIONS ALONG THE FLORIDA BIG BEND COAST. RESIDENTS
WITHIN THIS AREA SHOULD IMPLEMENT PLANS TO PROTECT LIFE AND
PROPERTY. STOCK UP ON CANNED GOODS...WATER...AND OTHER NON
PERISHABLE SUPPLIES. PURCHASE BATTERIES...FILL YOUR CAR UP WITH
GAS...AND PURCHASE THE NECESSARY SUPPLIES TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AND
FAMILY SHOULD HURRICANE OR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARRIVE. MAKE
SURE YOU HAVE EXTRA CASH ON HAND. REFILL ANY IMPORTANT
PRESCRIPTIONS THAT WILL BE NEEDED THROUGH THE DURATION OF THE
STORM. REMEMBER...SUPPLIES SUCH AS FOOD...WATER AND MEDICINE MAY
BE IN SHORT SUPPLY IN THE DAYS AFTER THE STORM HAS PASSED. LISTEN
CAREFULLY TO YOUR LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS. BE READY

BASED ON THE CURRENT TRACK OF FAY...A SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE IS
NOT EXPECTED IN OUR REGION. HOWEVER...SINCE THERE IS STILL SOME
UNCERTAINTY IN THE TRACK OF FAY...RESIDENTS ALONG THE FLORIDA BIG
BEND COAST FROM FRANKLIN TO DIXIE COUNTY SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR
THE PROGRESS OF FAY AND PREPARE TO MAKE PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT
THEIR PROPERTY.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS UP TO 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER TOTALS
ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN FLORIDA BIG BEND AND SOUTH-
CENTRAL GEORGIA TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. BASED ON THE CURRENT
