THIS STATEMENT COVERS ALL OF THE NORTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN
MIDDLE TENNESSEE COUNTIES SERVICED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
IN HUNTSVILLE.
...WATCHES/WARNINGS...
AN INLAND TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM THIS
MORNING FOR ALL OF THE NORTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN MIDDLE
TENNESSEE COUNTIES SERVICED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN
HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA.
...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 4 AM CDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM KATRINA WAS
LOCATED 35 MILES NORTHEAST OF TUPELO MISSISSIPPI.
KATRINA IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST AT NEAR 18 MPH. SOME
INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THE
FORECAST TRACK...KATRINA WILL BE MOVING INTO MIDDLE TENNESSEE BY
MORNING AND INTO KENTUCKY LATER TODAY.
...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PLEASE MOVE INDOORS AND STAY THERE AWAY FROM WINDOWS UNTIL THE
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS MOVE NORTH OUT OF NORTH ALABAMA AND
SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE BY MORNING. IF WATER BEGINS TO COVER THE
ROAD OR RISES RAPIDLY AT YOUR LOCATION...MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND AND
DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.
...INLAND WIND IMPACTS...
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH...AND WIND GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH...WILL
REMAIN A POSSIBILITY THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS ACROSS THE
MOUNTAINOUS AND HILLY AREAS THROUGHOUT NORTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN
MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
ELSEWHERE...SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 20 MPH WITH WIND GUSTS UP TO
35 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO PERSIST THIS MORNING...BEFORE GRADUALLY
DIMINISHING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

THE BULK OF THE RAINFALL ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL STORM KATRINA HAS
COME TO AN END ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY. SOME MINOR RUNOFF
FLOODING PROBLEMS MAY CONTINUE FROM EARLIER HEAVY RAINFALL THROUGH
THE MORNING HOURS.

THE RISK OF TORNADOES HAS ENDED ACROSS ALL NORTHERN ALABAMA AND
