FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON CATEGORY FIVE
HURRICANE KATRINA...LOCATED ABOUT 105 MILES SOUTH OF THE MOUTH OF
THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER...AND ON TROPICAL DEPRESSION
THIRTEEN...LOCATED ABOUT 925 MILES EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE...IS
GRADUALLY BECOMING BETTER ORGANIZED ABOUT 275 MILES SOUTHEAST OF
THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES
WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH.
AN ILL-DEFINED AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS LOCATED ABOUT 590 MILES
NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS. SHOWER ACTIVITY
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM IS POORLY ORGANIZED...AND UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION.
ELSEWHERE... TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
TUESDAY.
