FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON CATEGORY FIVE
HURRICANE KATRINA...LOCATED ABOUT 150 MILES SOUTH OF THE MOUTH OF
THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER...AND ON RECENTLY-FORMED TROPICAL DEPRESSION
THIRTEEN...LOCATED ABOUT 965 MILES EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE...IS
LOCATED ABOUT 325 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. THIS
SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE
NEXT DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH.
AN ILL-DEFINED AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS LOCATED ABOUT 500 MILES
NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS. SHOWER ACTIVITY
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM IS POORLY ORGANIZED...AND UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION.
ELSEWHERE... TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
MONDAY.
