FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL
STORM KATRINA...LOCATED IN THE BAHAMAS ABOUT 135 MILES EAST OF THE
SOUTHEAST COAST OF FLORIDA.

A VIGOROUS TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED MIDWAY BETWEEN AFRICA AND THE
LESSER ANTILLES IS MOVING WESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THIS SYSTEM HAS
THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION DURING THE NEXT DAY
OR SO...AS IT MOVES TOWARD WEST-NORTHWEST OVER THE OPEN ATLANTIC.

A WESTWARD-MOVING TROPICAL WAVE OVER THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA
IS PRODUCING DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT AT THIS TIME.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
FRIDAY.
