TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 AM EDT MON AUG 22 2005

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

SATELLITE IMAGERY AND RADAR DATA FROM MEXICO INDICATE THAT SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE INCREASED IN ASSOCIATION WITH AN AREA OF LOW
PRESSURE OVER THE BAY OF CAMPECHE NEAR THE COAST OF MEXICO. THIS
SYSTEM IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD ABOUT 10 MPH...AND UPPER-LEVEL
WINDS APPEAR SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE FOR ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT. AN AIR
FORCE RESERVE UNIT RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO
INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM THIS AFTERNOON...IF NECESSARY. INTERESTS IN
EASTERN AND SOUTHEASTERN MEXICO AND THE BAY OF CAMPECHE SHOULD
MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.

A LARGE TROPICAL WAVE IS LOCATED OVER THE EASTERN ATLANTIC OCEAN
ABOUT 350 MILES OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. WHILE THE ASSOCIATED
SHOWER ACTIVITY IS CURRENTLY POORLY ORGANIZED...THE SYSTEM HAS SOME
POTENTIAL FOR SLOW DEVELOPMENT DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS IT
MOVES WESTWARD OR WEST-NORTHWESTWARD.

DISORGANIZED CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS EXTEND FROM EASTERN CUBA AND
HISPANIOLA ACROSS THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS INTO THE ATLANTIC
FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES. THIS ACTIVITY IS ASSOCIATED WITH A
TROPICAL WAVE AND AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH...AND DEVELOPMENT DURING
THE NEXT DAY OR TWO SHOULD BE SLOW TO OCCUR AS THE SYSTEM MOVES
WESTWARD OR WEST-NORTHWESTWARD.

ELSEWHERE... TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
TUESDAY.
