THIS STATEMENT IS SPECIFIC TO THE FLORIDA KEYS OF MONROE COUNTY.

...WATCHES AND WARNINGS...
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE FLORIDA KEYS FROM
OCEAN REEF TO THE WEST END OF THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE, INCLUDING THE
ADJACENT ATLANTIC WATERS AND FLORIDA BAY. A TROPICAL STORM WATCH
MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA
WITHIN 36 HOURS.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 1100 PM EDT...SATELLITE IMAGES INDICATED THAT THE CENTER OF
HURRICANE JEANNE WAS NEAR LATITUDE 26.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 74.9 WEST.
THIS IS ABOUT 360 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF KEY LARGO. MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 100 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME
STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. JEANNE IS MOVING
TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 12 MPH...AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS
MEASURED AT 964 MB...OR 28.47 INCHES OF MERCURY.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
MONROE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IS MONITORING THE PROGRESS OF
HURRICANE JEANNE AND AT THIS TIME NO PROTECTIVE ACTIONS ARE BEING
RECOMMENDED. INDIVIDUALS SHOULD REVIEW AND UPDATE THEIR HURRICANE
FAMILY PLANS.

...WIND IMPACTS...
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH LATE SATURDAY
AFTERNOON IN THE MIDDLE AND UPPER KEYS. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS
ARE POSSIBLE...MAINLY IN GUSTS.

...MARINE IMPACTS...
SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT WITHIN THE WATCH AREA. IN THE
ATLANTIC WATERS OFF THE UPPER AND MIDDLE KEYS...SEAS WILL BE
BUILDING TO 7 TO 10 FEET OUTSIDE THE REEF...AND 2 TO 3 FEET INSIDE
THE REEF ON SATURDAY. FLORIDA BAY WATERS WILL BE VERY ROUGH.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
NO SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE IS EXPECTED IN THE FLORIDA KEYS WITH THE
PASSAGE OF HURRICANE JEANNE. UPCOMING HIGH TIDES AT VACA CUT WILL
OCCUR AT 6:51 SATURDAY MORNING AND 8:03 SATURDAY EVENING.

THE NEXT LOCAL STATEMENT CONCERNING THE IMPACTS OF HURRICANE JEANNE
