THIS STATEMENT IS SPECIFIC TO THE FLORIDA KEYS OF MONROE COUNTY.
...WATCHES AND WARNINGS...
A TROPICAL STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE FLORIDA KEYS FROM
OCEAN REEF TO THE WEST END OF THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE. A TROPICAL
STORM WATCH MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE
WATCH AREA WITHIN 36 HOURS.
...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 500 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE JEANNE WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 26.4 NORTH...LONGITUDE 73.5 WEST. THIS IS ABOUT 435 MILES
EAST NORTHEAST OF KEY LARGO. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 100
MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE IN THE NEXT
24 HOURS. JEANNE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST AT NEAR 12 MPH...AND THIS
GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS MEASURED AT 965 MB...OR 28.50 INCHES OF
MERCURY.
...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
MONROE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IS MONITORING THE PROGRESS OF
HURRICANE JEANNE. AT THIS TIME NO PROTECTIVE ACTIONS ARE BEING
RECOMMENDED. INDIVIDUALS SHOULD REVIEW AND UPDATE THEIR HURRICANE
FAMILY PLANS.

WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH BY TOMORROW
AFTERNOON...WITH TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS POSSIBLE IN GUSTS.

SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT WITHIN THE WATCH AREA BEGINNING
SATURDAY. IN THE ATLANTIC WATERS OFF THE UPPER AND MIDDLE
KEYS...SEAS WILL BE BUILDING TO 7 TO 10 FEET OUTSIDE THE REEF...AND
2 TO 3 FEET INSIDE THE REEF TOMORROW. FLORIDA BAY WATERS WILL BE
VERY ROUGH.
