A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE TEXAS AND LOUISIANA
COAST FROM SAN LUIS PASS TO MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA.
A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR BRAZORIA...CHAMBERS...FORT BEND...
GALVESTON...HARRIS...HOUSTON...LIBERTY...MONTGOMERY...POLK...SAN
JACINTO...TRINITY AND WALKER COUNTIES THROUGH TONIGHT.

AT 4 PM CDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM IVAN WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 29.4 NORTH...LONGITUDE 93.0 WEST...OR ABOUT 90 MILES
EAST OF HIGH ISLAND TEXAS.
.MOVEMENT...
TROPICAL STORM IVAN IS MOVING NORTHWEST NEAR 8 MPH. THIS MOTION IS
EXPECTED TO BRING THE CENTER OF IVAN ONSHORE THE COAST NEAR PORT
ARTHUR TONIGHT.
.WINDS...
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 45 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS MAINLY
NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER. NO ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS
ANTICIPATED PRIOR TO LANDFALL.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
TIDE LEVELS ARE CURRENTLY RUNNING 1 TO 1.5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL ALONG
THE UPPER TEXAS COAST AND GALVESTON BAY. ACTUAL TIDE LEVELS RANGE
FROM 2.0 TO 3.2 FEET...WITH A FEW SPOTS ON GALVESTON ISLAND UP TO 4
FEET. GALVESTON COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTS MINOR BEACH
EROSION OCCURRING WITH WATER UP TO THE DUNES IN SOME LOCATIONS.
AS IVAN MOVES INLAND OVER EXTREME SOUTHEAST TEXAS OFFSHORE WINDS WILL
DEVELOP AND TIDES WILL GRADUALLY RETURN TO NEAR NORMAL LEVELS TONIGHT
AND FRIDAY.

HEAVY RAINFALL AND THE THREAT OF FLOODING WILL BE TROPICAL STORM
IVAN'S PRIMARY IMPACT ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN REACHING THE UPPER TEXAS COAST
TONIGHT AND SLOWLY SPREAD FROM EAST TO WEST OVERNIGHT.
THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN FRIDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE
THROUGH SATURDAY AFTER THE CENTER OF IVAN MOVES WELL INLAND. EXPECT
WIDESPREAD STORM TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH ISOLATED
AMOUNTS OF 10 INCHES OR MORE POSSIBLE NEAR WHERE THE CENTER OF IVAN
TRACKS ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
