AT 5 AM EDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IVAN WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 26.1 NORTH...LONGITUDE 87.8 WEST OR ABOUT 350 MILES
SOUTHWEST OF CEDAR KEY. IVAN IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NORTHWEST
NEAR 12 MPH AND A GRADUAL TURN TO THE NORTH IS EXPECTED TODAY.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
WATER LEVELS OF 3 TO 5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDES ARE EXPECTED ALONG
THE LEVY COUNTY COAST BEGINNING LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUING
INTO TONIGHT.
MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING OF LOW LYING COASTAL AREAS MAY OCCUR...
ESPECIALLY DURING THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE. HIGH TIDES WILL OCCUR AT
259 PM THIS AFTERNOON...314 AM THURSDAY MORNING AND 339 PM THURSDAY
AFTERNOON.
...WIND IMPACTS...
EAST WINDS AROUND 10 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 25 MPH WERE BEING OBSERVED
OVER LEVY COUNTY AND ADJACENT GULF WATERS EARLY THIS MORNING. THE
STRONGEST WINDS FOR LEVY COUNTY ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR WITHIN THE
BANDS OF HEAVY RAIN AS HURRICANE IVAN MOVES NORTHWARD THROUGH
TONIGHT. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH WILL
BEGIN TO IMPACT COASTAL SECTIONS OF LEVY COUNTY BY EARLY TONIGHT
CONTINUING INTO EARLY THURSDAY.
MINOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR IN OLDER MOBILE HOME PARKS. NEWLY PLANTED
TREES AND SHRUBS MAY BE UPROOTED IF NOT SECURED PROPERLY. RESIDENTS
SHOULD MOVE UNFASTENED ITEMS...SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS AND DECK
FURNITURE INDOORS.

AFTERNOON...WITH AREAL COVERAGE AND INTENSITY INCREASING WEDNESDAY
NIGHT INTO THURSDAY...WITH STORM TOTAL RAINFALL EXPECTED TO BE IN THE
1 TO 3 INCH RANGE...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THESE
RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING IN LOW LYING AND POOR
DRAINGE AREAS. ADDITIONAL RAINS ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF IVAN ARE
POSSIBLE ON FRIDAY. RESIDENTS LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS OR ALONG
AREA STREAMS...CREEKS...AND RIVERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR SOME
FLOODING AND SHOULD TAKE ACTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.
THE NEXT HURRICANE LOCAL STATEMENT FROM THE TAMPA BAY AREA FORECAST
OFFICE WILL BE ISSUED AROUND 9 AM EDT.
