MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR RESIDENTS OF THE KEYS. FOR

AT 200 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IVAN WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 22.4 NORTH...LONGITUDE 85.6 WEST...OR ABOUT 55 MILES WEST
NORTHWEST OF THE WESTERN TIP OF CUBA. THIS IS ABOUT 290 MILES WEST
SOUTHWEST OF KEY WEST. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 160
MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THIS MAKES IVAN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
CATEGORY FIVE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE. SOME
FLUCTUATIONS IN INTENSITY ARE LIKELY DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. IVAN
WAS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MPH. THIS GENERAL MOTION IS
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE
WAS ESTIMATED AT 922 MB...OR 27.23 INCHES OF MERCURY.

...MARINE IMPACTS...
SEAS WILL CONTINUE EIGHT TO TWELVE FEET BEYOND THE REEF AND TWO TO
FOUR FEET INSIDE THE REEF...THEN BEGIN TO SLOWLY SUBSIDE BEGINNING
THIS AFTERNOON. MARINERS SHOULD MONITOR KEY WEST NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE MARINE FORECASTS FOR FURTHER UPDATES. THE BRIDGES AT SNAKE
CREEK AND JEWFISH CREEK WILL BE LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION...AND
THUS CLOSED TO MARINE VESSEL TRAFFIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

...WIND IMPACTS...
FOR THE LOWER AND MIDDLE KEYS...SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR 20 MPH WITH
GUSTS TO 40 MPH IN OCCASIONAL SQUALLS CAN BE EXPECTED TODAY.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
NO SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE IS EXPECTED IN THE KEYS WITH THE PASSAGE
OF HURRICANE IVAN. HOWEVER...HIGH TIDES IN THE LOWER KEYS COULD
RUNUP TO ONE FOOT ABOVE NORMAL TODAY. THIS MAY CAUSE SOME MINOR
OVERWASH ONTO STREETS AND SHORES ALONG THE ATLANTIC-FACING COASTLINE
NEAR HIGH TIDE...AND MAINLY IN THE LOWER KEYS. THE NEXT HIGH TIDE IN
KEY WEST HARBOR WILL OCCUR AT 1030 AM THIS MORNING.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE FLORIDA KEYS FROM
THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE WESTWARD TO THE DRY TORTUGAS.

THE NEXT STATEMENT CONCERNING HURRICANE IVAN WILL BE ISSUED AROUND
