AT 500 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IVAN WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 17.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 78.0 WEST...OR ABOUT 70 MILES SOUTH
OF MONTEGO BAY. THIS IS ABOUT 545 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF KEY WEST.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 155 MILES AN HOUR...MAKING IVAN AN
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON
SCALE...AND IT IS POSSIBLE IVAN COULD REGAIN CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE
STATUS AS IT MOVES PASSES JAMAICA. IVAN HAS WOBBLED TOWARD THE
WEST...BUT IS EXPECTED TO RESUME A MOTION TOWARD THE WEST NORTHWEST
OR NORTHWEST NEAR 8 MILES AN HOUR. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS
MEASURED AT 924 MB...OR 27.17 INCHES OF MERCURY.
